I don't know too much about village dress codes but I know that backless cholis are not very uncommon in Gujrat rural areas.. the garba dresses the young girls wear in navratras are inspired by the local village chaniya choli looks only..And skin show happens in all traditional Indian dresses, whether its a saree or ghagra cholis..the midriff and backs are exposed ..the transparent duppattas are only to make the attire look dressy.. and she looks pretty..the leads should look like leads when they come in one frame.. usme kya logic yaar?! Talking to opposite sex speaking out by women may have been looked down upon 50 years ago.. its honestly not that big a deal now..it might not be very open like in villages..but its not shocking or a social taboo as it used to be.. What I would consider against maan maryada is what Kumari is doing..

Very true Vaishali, leads should look like leads, and elegant dressing is a part of it,

Village dress, since we have different experiences on this , lets leave it out for now.

My crib is only against inconsistencies.

Let me try to explain

Actually rural India is what I said in point 3 - a mix of modern and old

So there are belts which are progressive and some which are still very traditional,

SLB just has to choose which type of village he wants to base his story in.

A modern village would allow its heroine to dress this way, but since liberty to dress is one of the last liberties a society concedes to a woman, it would not freak out on a girl and boy out etc etc.

A rigid society on the other hand, would object to gau hatya, girl and boy going out together, and would also have rigid dress rules.

SLB just needs to be consistent, if it is a liberal village, then Gau Hatya and other conservative village tracks should not have been written and vice versa!

😆Shana you are a gem,

Weekend hai bhai, Samud ke bina soona

Dimaag ki waat Lagao, ya Lagao choona

Show main logic kyon adhoori hota hai

Fiction main conviction bhi zaroori hota hai

Gauti and Jen are real or not sannu ki,

Chanku should be real.

Hey Arshi ! sorry for bugging you with my long arguements.. Weekend is here and I am going to watch The Great Gatsby in sometime.. :D just got some free time in hand before I leave.. I am not denying that these kinda technical inconsistencies happen.. but I feel its unfair to single out SLB.. Mind you, I don't consider him to be a top notch director. so not defending him or anything..But just saying that Indian daily soaps and movies in general are more high on emotional quotient and less on technical detailing and logics.. where in the world will you see hero heroine suddenly breaking into a song in the middle of nowhere? Same goes for the daily soaps..SLB is no different.. he also makes and presents his story within the same parameters.. Coming to the show, it might be hard for some to connect with the kind of fusion he is trying to show between rural and modern and maybe it would be a good idea like you said to even it out and make it consistent.. but I am not very analytical myself having watched hindi shows for a long time now.. In fact, knowing the production value of this show, I feel the characters styling in this show is much more toned down and believable than what I see in many other shows.. Rich doesnt mean heavy jewellery..watch Guman for instance.. In other shows I see women of rich households loaded with artificial fake jewellery to gve that rich look.. Leads are no different.. Saras is usually dressed in branded casuals ..and Kumud is stylish but not over the top, be it the fabric and colors of her dress or make up..

@ Vaishali,

I am actually enjoying the discussion with you, like you, I too have some idle time now!

Your positivity is always a delight, and much needed for a nit picker like me!

So first, enjoy the movie

Second, I a not at all denying any merit of this show,

It has class

And you mentioned Guman, I am actually a fan of her stylist

Her sarees are elegant, gorgeous

I just feel, that we have come to be placid about tech flaws

Maybe it's time to raise the bar! And demand more excellence

Yes Gautam and Jennifer are real!!! But will they get deserved credit for their fabulous performance because of weak script???

Very valid point Anu_11, a weak script can make or break a show, right now though the acting and direction are great, the script seems to be where there are gaps. And CVs will need to be careful about that.

Arshi, I am fine with the show as its going, and agree with Vaishali_AR, too much fault finding over trivial points

We have to accept some inconsistencies in a Hindi soap, accept that it cannot be 100% realistic.

Only then we will enjoy any show.

SC has so many good things, but you always point out the negatives.

I think you should learn to appreciate the positive points

I do appreciate the positives points Shramu, I just think we need to talk about both, and not close my eyes to the negatives
