interesting topic buffie ,In my opinion giving ur best shot is much more better than trying to attain perfection . Moreover every persons perspective of perfection may be different . It always happen that the person who thinks he is perfect may be full of flaws for the other.

Sometimes When u try to attain perfection, u generally miss out on the bigger picture like some one else said . I also beleive that not all prefectionists are the best coz each one looks at it and measures perfectness from their yardstick whcih may differ from person to person . While one person finds the person who is well maintained as perfect , the other may have a different yardstick and hence wouldnt find the same person perfect and the best .

Its the same with reality shows , what one sees as perfect may not be the same for another as their yardstick for measuring perfection is different .

I guess my post might look repetitive but honestly Thats what i think , that it differs from person to person as each individuals yardstick to judge a person may be different.

I remember this discussion in JDJ when I joined the forum. I think both of us argued in favour of Shveta Salve being perfect and someone retaliated saying 'perfect is not always best'.

In my opinion if a person has attained perfection in what he does then he is the best. If he has conquered the highest standards then he can't be any less that the best.

Now coming to perils in being perfect. Is perfection always the best?

Not always. No, I am not contradicting myself. Perfectionists are way too competitive which puts them in high stress category. Such people might not be able to take a failure in its stride. They always try to put themselves at the highest level and try hard to be flawless in front of others. This could be quite stressful to them and high chances of them turning into a weak and emotional person. The most recent examples could be Shveta Salve in JDJ and Bhaktyaar in Nach Baliye.

I agree with Abhijeet and Tina. Sometimes perfection can be synonymous to procrastination. How many times have you heard a person say (including myself 😆 ) - no, I haven't yet finished; you see, I'm a perfectionist...!!! And often that is just an excuse for procrastination. 😊

Perfection is what we want it to be. Even if it is imperfect.

I think slightly messy hair on me is perfect. Others will not think so. They will call it "imperfect". Their idea of perfect is different than mine.

Perfection is something designed to satisfy our individual and emotional desires, so there can be no universally perfect object, person, or idea that will satisfy everyone.

We all are perfectionists in the sense that we all find things that are perfect to us, but not everyone else.

absolutely no one is perfect. there's always an "ultimate person" in everyone's head, and we all strive to be our own "ultimate person". as monica said, everyone has a different definition of "perfect".

as far as the question of 'perfect being the best' goes, i don't think there's any such thing as perfection, but doing your best is the closest you can get to it 😊

Perfection means something is complete, like yin and yang, and does not have poisonous elements. It is not obscured by poisonous fog. Perfection is neither good nor bad. It is a natural frequency - dependent on opinions.

All people have defects, but saints and sages can accept their defects. Most people dwell on their own defects. If people had a positive viewpoint like saints and sages do, then they would see perfection around them, too. Instead, most people like to think of things as "wrong" or "a problem", which means they are using their human mind or mind of perception.

What is perfection? We consider that when something has no mistakes, that is unqualified, is accurate, it is perfect. (Whose definition is that, anyway? Who decides what's a mistake or accurate - the creator or the perceiver?) That means it's unchangeable and static. What would a static world mean for us? What would happen if the entire world was entire peaceful, there was no disease, no aging, not a single flaw? What if there were no polarities (i.e., good/bad, hot/cold, light/dark)? Would we see that as living the perfect existence, and is it possible to achieve? Could we be happy living in such perfection? How many of us would leave the place because it would no longer be challenging or exciting?

When we think that things are not perfect as they already are, we maintain a negative image of ourselves and the planet, thereby creating a negative people and planet - negative in terms of how most people see polarities. So, we are caught in a double-bind. We are creating the negative, defining it as such, so we can create a positive and think we've fixed something, made it a little bit more perfect. This inability to accept diversity is what creates conflict on Earth. God accepts us just as He created us.

Here's the irony: everything is in a constant state of change, so perfection in that way is impossible - as perfection by our definition is static. And yet, being in a constant state of change is perfection. As we do have free will, everything already is perfect because we are always being the creator and making choices for our lives. When we think that we are not perfect and the world is not perfect, we are already holding a negative image of all of it, and that creates our negative reality. This is the grind, the habit, that we can remove, transform, and see all as it really is - which, again ironically, is perfect.

well to me,
while perfection is good,
there is no such thing as "perfection"..there is always scope for improvement.. there is always scope for improving on your previous performance..

It is always good to give your best shot and be happy with it...

To me Perfection isn't the Best becuase as someone gave an example of Sonu Nigam being the prefect singer but Best singer someone else.

I think to be the BEST one needs to have the "X FACTOR". Also, I believe that perfection at times is boring. In Simi Garewal's show, She said to Hirithik if there was a PERFECT apple and an ORIGINAL apple, which would you choose and he siad ofcourse the ORIGINAL one coz it's original. Being perfect doesn't make you or your work the best.

To be the best, one needs to work hard and give THEIR best shot. One should compete with themselves and not with others in order to be THE BEST.

Take Ashwariya and Sushmita, for example, Aishwariya is PERFECT but Sushmita has that "X FACTOR" which makes her stand out in the crowd. Even though Ash is extremely beautiful but when you see Sush in the same place, you look more at Sush than at Ash. I'm NOT at all comparing or degrading any of the actors or thier fans, I just used it as an example😳.

I'm all confused now, will be back later, if I remember😳.

Just remembered one thing you mentioned, which I disagree with. If I don't like someone or something doesn't mean it's the "sour grapes" case. If someone doesn't like a work done prefectly, doesn't mean they are jealous of others' work.

Just my opinon😳

"Insanity - Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results."

Perfection is vital in competitions and contests but in in practical life it creates a pause in enjoying life and moving forward. It can also turn into Obssesive Compulsive Disorder. One cannot be perfect every time and to balance everything in life is perfection Imho.
