I was recently discussing with someone over a reality show, wherein the person said that "perfect" is not the best

So,would you concur with the person who feels perfection isnt the best??.....Does perfection tantamount to being the BEST??

Do we as often as not lap upto the imperfect.....If so,why??....

Is it because our heart wells up with empathy since we ourselves cant be perfect??....A case of sour grapes....

I'm a stickler for perfection...I love admiring and venerating perfection,I try my best to be perfect in certain things which are paramountly important ...I know I cant be perfect in every realm but there are certain things on my priority list, and i push myself to attain perfection......Its not so easy being perfect, thus when I find paragons of perfection in whatever form,I revere, applaud and try to emulate it(analogously)....

Why not aim to be the best and perfect ,especially when we CAN attain that perfection just by working towards it....The joy and satisfaction one derives when one reaches perfection is inexplicably delightful......

Okay...I'm back 😊 Firstly I would just lowee to give you a hand on the points you made...it was sooo correct, true, and absolutely well reasoned 👏👏👏 Please keep this up, Buffie 👍🏼
SO,my questions

1)Is perfect the best....According to me, yes. The one who shows no or very little flaws is the best-no doubt 😊 Sadly, some other people don't think this way due to favoritism or without thinking of all the points 😕-just like you've laid out here 😊

2)Are the audicence biased, when they come up with excuses to condone the bad performance of their favourites Sure...if they only want the candidate to win cause they're soo deeply immeresed with them. They would make up excuses because they just want their favorite to win so bad! Sometimes it ends up that what they're saying is only making themself guilty as well.

3)Are these shows, only about talent,or should one take into consideration other factors like "affability, smile, regional favouritsm etc" Definitely should 100% be for talent! But where do you find that? Any reality shows turn out to be biased because once the audience picks their favorite-they usually stick to their favorite. They become so intent on that person winning they'll bring in all unrelevant factors-some so disgusting or far beyond. 🤢
Sadly, this is never the case in reality shows. People don't go for talent...they go for looks, popularity, and the list goes on

Thanks for this topic 👏 Very clearly written!😊

I agree with that person actually. Being perfect does not mean you are the best. Take Hrithik Roshan for example.. he's a perfect dancer.. but not the best (debatable). He tries so hard that his dancing often seems mechanical. On the other hand, Govinda isnt perfect yet, in my opinion is one of the best dancers in bollywood.

This can also be seen in music. Sonu Nigam is a perfect singer, but I like Lucky Ali as a singer because of the imperfectness of his voice. So in my opinion he is the best.

Therefore, I think perfectness is getting the job done right, while one needs a sort of "X factor" in order to be called the best.

I swear, it all makes sense in my head.. i just cant explain it!

Well I really dont know. in my understanding nothing and no one is perfect, and so wouldnt say someone who is perfect is the best. The best is everyones personal way of looking a thing or person. You can never be the best. And so you cant be perfect. Whats the best for me, may not be the best for you. Thats why all these reality shows clash, because everyone has a different way of looking at the best. Of course in these shows, there's always a obvious contestant, who should win. Like n a signing show, why should I care if he or she's a good person, all i care about if he or she can sing good. I dont know...I just dont think being perfect matters in deciding if your the best or not.

I love this topic Buffie !
I concur with you cent percent. A performer being judged as a PERFECT performer is THE BEST performer in a crowd of performers that were relatively imperfect! No doubt!

In reality, both "perfection" and "the best" happen to be relative terms and hence it is not logical to generalize perfect as being the best.
In the beginning, I would like to contrast a "performer's perfection" with certain other perfections / imperfections of Mother Nature.
  • Silicon Impurities has provided us with computers
  • Several proteins have to be sligtly impure in order to be crystallized
  • Several enzymes have to be stored a little less than 100% pure to retain their activity..
However, when a person is judged for his / her performance, may it be dancing, singing, carrying out responsibilities at work / home, perfection is what everyone should thrive for. That is what will make them the best.

I agree with everything that you've said. One cannot be the best, just because one tried. Perfection sometimes requires not just hard work and talent, but luck. The soft melody in Lata's voice is God's given. That surely helped her in being a perfect singer of the 50s-60s. Similarly, there are born natural dancers - Shveta, Ajay, madhuri, Aishwarya.. to name a few. Of these, those who strived to reach perfection were labelled as the best! Nothing wrong in that! No doubt. Olympic sports are about perfection, cooking is about perfection, painting, singing, playing instruments.. you name it. The ones that are perfect are the best.

Common people can support the lesser performers because of whatever reasons they may have. But perfect is the best in this context. It is not about silicon, crystals and enzymes.. 😃

Buffie, I agree with your every word said above. There are instances when grapes are sour…but like you said it is not so easy to be a perfectionist. I myself am not perfect in any thing I can think of. So I will vote for..Yes, perfect is the best. Perfect being ideal.
