I have read a book on the 1984 Sikh Riots, incidentally by the same man who flung his shoe on Pranab Mukherjee, now the President of India - Jarnail Singh. The book is titles "I accuse..." and is really heart wrending

The atrocities committed on the community is a brutal reminder to me about how twisted we all can become, once we step into a trail of madness, based on nothing but silly prejudice and stupid beliefs. This saddened me as a fellow human and an Indian. I wasn't even born then, but I feel for them.
There was a recent article in Times Of India, where they said that the CBI has stated in front of the court that there was no record of any riots against Sikhs with the police, and without any official record, we can very well suggest that more than 3 million Sikh's committed mass suicide.
I don't have any resources to prove if what TOI said was indeed correct, but if this was what they said, I'm disgusted beyond belief.
All the people who died giving our country its independence, I'm sorry.
Just that.

Aww ...C'mon now..I understand your sentiments but it would be prudent if you elaborate a bit on this...I accuse <<< That's what he said right ? ...Accuse Whom ? Of What ? ...The same people who helped him finagle his way to become the most dominant man in the state ?..Only to turn against em later as he became a defector ? ..

As far as I understand that, Jernail Singh operated at par with Babbar and Dal Khalsa and other such organizations motivated by vengeance. Bringing a bad repute to the name of Damdami Taksal .....He opposed the National language's prevalence as the teaching medium in the schools across the state ( When the state was very much the part of Union of India ) ..which he believed to be oppressive..Funny that ..😆

And who killed Sikhs first ? Who killed Nirankari Gurbachan Singh ? Cause he was for peaceful negotiations with the government and condemned all armed revolt? ...Who celebrated the killings of an Editor of a popular Newspaper who was also a Sikh ? Who fortified Akal Takth and made it the base of the most vicious militant activities ? <<< Now don't forget to consider the Time Stamp Miss ...The chronology of the events is of utmost significance in assessing the situation ...

Starting off astutely as a priest who preached against alcoholism ( <<< Haha..and this is not why I'm ranting against him ..No hell..😆 ) and other such activities , he slowly instilled hatred in the minds of his followers and provoked em into becoming anarchists...By making a few commonly disputable issues appear larger than life...This is how most dictators rise to power ...Yeah dictator in the making of course ..Cause if you know that, he had even started to jury people's disputes and give out verdicts that were binding on all parties ..A one man court ? ...😆 ..Let's not forget how one mediocre Austrian born man went onto became a German Chancellor ...

Alright now ..Can ya please tell me why you think the Government acted against a particular community ? Had they any motive ? Or they just entered a mad frenzy post independence and tossed a Coin and chose Bhindranwale and his supporters as the ones to be slaughtered ? ...😆

In whose interest ? ...Indian people ? ..😆 ...So gaining land by invading other empires. slaying off thousands of people, demolishing their shrines and diminishing their belief in the law is what makes a Monarch a Mughal ..( <<< That's according to you ...) right ? .😆

Nope, you misunderstand me. I'm talking about LAND Aurangzeb conquered, and not Aurangzeb as a ruler (who by the way - was a tyrant and an idiot). You didn't read what I wrote properly, did you? I said that India under Aurangzeb stretched from Bangladesh to Afghanistan. Nowhere did I make allusions to Aurangzeb's supposed greatness.
Well, I used gained because I couldn't think of an appropriate word back then. 😆

Yehahaha ...😆 ..I'm here to misunderstand everyone and disagree with all ..Including myself ..( BOCTAOE like um..If the debate is about the hoop earrings in your DP. ..And if you say they are cool...I ll agree to that ..WTH...😆 )...Cause if I don't, the debate ll end right there and then...

Alright ...Here I go ( Trying to misunderstand ) again ...
Yeah ..He was the greatest jam roll of em all ..but I'm unable to figure out why you mentioned him ..I mean he conquered the land right...( Never to forget he lost quite a bit of footing inside the Indian terrain ..) and at the same time caused a great destruction to holy shrines and people's wealth ...rendering em poor and helpless ...<<< .. So that was the very point Zephy(r) had made ...<<< Or were you agreeing with her ? ..Hahaha ..The confusion ..It never seems to end..

Now you can feel free to misunderstand me ...Just keep it going I say ..

Hey Baazigar,

Sorry for the delay,

Check out the documentary, it gives an idea to the events before operation bluestar and what led to it.

Word of caution:
1. In this topic, what we were trying to discuss was on the day of this action, was there any other alternative Mrs. Gandhi could have taken? And not if over the years there was something else that could be done.

2. Rise of radicalism - like I said earlier, Congress does have a role there

3. Is Mrs. Gandhi always right? - NO!...But she has one quality, she could take decisions..

4. lastly, an oft quoted perspective against gandhi is - timing of the event - they argue that it was deliberate given it was festival season and a lot of sikhs from all over would be there and IG wanted to make maximum of this opportuntiy - the thing is, if someone wanted to use this opportunity it was jarnail singh...it is his timing that made Gandhi retaliate.. and it is his choice of timing that led to this unfortunate incident

5. Post IG's death - what happened was cold blooded murder at hands of politicians. Period.

6. On blocking journalists out, doing it without informing - as per official records,
Army had underestimated and was not clear of the ammunitions and #of militants inside. Additionally from IG's perspective, this wouldn't have a happy ending.. what purpose would journalists have - she wanted to avoid mass panic.. and be done with it.. also not to forget, this was supposed to be a surprise attack as this was to be the biggest tactic on their end..most of the local people wouldn't support, no informants in the inside.. hope you get the picture

7. And if I am right, khalistan demands were on Pak side too.. but there tackling hindus was always an easier task..

Read Gandhi's bio if you can ever.. she is one of the few interesting leaders to read up on.. and when you read up stuff from her persepective it gives a different picture altogether..and mostly all other 3rd party viewpoints you will find will be against her..

if you look at her story from the childhood.. switzerland - to realtionship with her father - to Indian politics and how she saw her mom suffered in young age.. will tell you about her personality..

I am not saying she is the perfect leader..all I am saying is , in Indian politics, she makes for a good read.. and yes, one of the strongest leader we have ever had...
Sad truth is, there hardly have been 'leaders' in the center lately..

True leaders can't have feeble minds you see...😊...I believe the Inept and submissive leaders are the greatest curse on any nation ...She mighta handled all internal political affairs artfully ..but never for once did she sacrifice nation's interest ...bowing to external threats that is ..It takes the modern day leaders yonks to reject mercy petitions of the most notorious terrorists who kill people the same way a slaughterer chops off chicken's heads ...How friggin lame ..😆

Bhindranwale was a prototype protagonist of the Khalistan fiasco ...If you guys have read '...The rise and fall of the Third Reich' you ll know that he trudged the same lame way as Hitler did back in time ...First raising smaller issues and making em seem larger than life ...😆...Only may be he slept with the fishes a far too earlier than he mighta thought ...😆 ...All thanks to IG ..and her immaculate will to do away with the movement ( Religion based division of the nation that is ..) Hahaha ...Yeah ...😆
