great post, u've said pretty much everything, actually. i also think the ph rushed the show a bit and not everything was perfectly in its place, so execution has suffered. maybe they wanted to jump in ahead of ipl, but they didn't give themselves enough time to get the show established.

but sanaya and supriya r doing a great job as r most of the supporting cast so they r not the issue. unfortunately the ml is the weakest link but what to do? and yeah, trp audience expect a tight script, layered characterisation, a bit of drama/tension and better execution, other than that i think the show has all the potential to do well!

i like that sanaya chose something different, she has to explore her potential as an actress and try different genres. i'm hoping the ph is giving it till the end of ipl and by then will have worked out the kinks in the show and will present to the audience what they originally narrated to sanaya 😛

I have a slightly different perspective here ... because I don't think the top TRP chart toppers are anything great in terms of either storyline, content or execution in any way whatsoever. All Indian daily shows are fairly pathetic these days ... the daily format doesn't allow much quality in any form. And all daily shows take at least 3-4 months to reach their baseline level of viewing ... no shows start off at the top regardless of acting, content, execution etc ...

I personally cannot think of a single show which I followed right from start to end because the SHOW itself appealed to me ... and only one so far which I did follow from first to last ... and that was NOT because the execution or story was anything wonderful. But I have followed different shows for varying lengths of time because the acting appealed ... or the theme appealed ... or because I connected to a particular character ... different shows have different pulling points. I think because the shows go on for so long, people get habituated to following their favorites and start overlooking the flaws. Basically tv watching is a fairly mindless hobby on the whole ...

For me personally, acting is a huge part of the draw, followed by characterization ... I cannot watch a show where the acting is bad. Which is why I don't follow most of the top TRP shows 😆 Actors are the final link between the cv's and the audience ... if the actors fail to translate the cv's vision on screen, the show can never appeal to me. This is my own personal opinion ... I am very well aware it is not the majority opinion ... otherwise the shows I detest would not be chart toppers 😆

And which is why I am perfectly happy to watch Chhanchhan ... because I like the acting of Sanaya and the rest of the cast (barring one) ... and am also happy to watch the couple of other shows I watch, like Veera, because the acting is stellar there, even though the show does drag at parts.

I 100% agree with you. How is Sanaya responsible for the drop of TRP's. If people are not watching then how is it her fault.
