Actors Irrfan Khan, Vikram Gokhale, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Parineeti Chopra collected their National Awards today in New Delhi. The awards were handed out by President Pranab Mukherjee.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award this year went to legendary actor Pran, 93, who was unable to collect it in person because of ill-health, but he got a standing ovation anyway.
Director Tigmanshu Dhulia and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur received the Swarn Kamal for Best Feature Film for Paan Singh Tomar.
Irrfan Khan and Vikram Gokhale received the Rajat Kamal for Best Actor for their roles in the films Paan Singh Tomar and Anumati.
Marathi actress Usha Jadhav received the Rajat Kamal for Best Actress for Dhag.
Parineeti Chopra received a Special Mention for Ishaqzaade. Nawazuddin Siddiqui received a Special Jury Award for his work in Kahaani, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Talaash and Dekh Indian Circus.
Vicky Donor actors Dolly Ahluwalia and Annu Kapoor received the Rajat Kamal for Best Supporting Actress and Actor. Dolly Ahluwalia shared her Rajat Kamal with Kalpana for Thanichallanjan.
Kahaani director and writer Sujoy Ghosh received the Rajat Kamal for Best Original Screenplay. Kahaani also picked up Best Editing for Namrata Rao.
Bhavesh Mandalia and Umesh Shukla received the Rajat Kamal for Best Adapted Screenplay for Oh My God.
Actor and producer John Abraham and director Shoojit Sircar received the award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment for Vicky Donor.
Chittagong director Bedabrata Pain received the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Directing Debut. Shankar Mahadevan and Prasoon Joshi collected the awards for Best Male Playback Singer and Best Lyrics for the song Bolo Na from Chittagong. Actors Huma Qureshi and R Madhavan anchored the presentation ceremony, which also celebrated Indian cinema's 100th birthday. A set of special postage stamps commemorating a century of movies was released by President Pranab Mukherjee.
The attendees at the presentation ceremony were also treated to a rendition of Bolo Na by singer Shankar Mahadevan.
The jury this year was headed by filmmakers Basu Chatterjee, Aruna Raje and film critic Swapan Mullick. The National Awards were announced on March 18.
