Hi Shyamala I agree with you, notwithstanding that all around us we mostly hear about the ghastly things that human beings do to each other, most of humanity are innately good. It is the rotten apples that give the human race a bad name. I think there are more people in the world who are like Onir than there are people like Balan. As for Manav not allowing Arjun near his daughter, I assume you mean Ovi. But Purvi is his daughter too, albeit adopted. He seems to have toatlly disregarded this fact and has chosen to treat her as a stranger. But then the fathers in this programme are constantly shown as weak and ineffectual. Damodar is shown to be a father no one considers seriously. Manav as a father has now become quite ridiculous. The cake however for me is taken by DK. This man is never able to guide his son or even console his son. The latest incident, Arjun tells him that he has handed Pari over to Purvi. The guy's heart is breaking and his pain is visible for all to see. What does this father do? He shows no care whatsoever in the world for his son's pain or the fact that his granddaughter will not be raised in his home. He is more concerned that Arjun must repair his marriage because marriage is holy!!! No sympathy and understanding for what his son is going through. No hug, nothing! What nonsense from a man that has protrayed himself as modern and worldly! Thsi man is disgusting.

Dear Chaitali,
Yes, there are people like Onir in the world, and I have met some of them, and was greatly reassured about the human race, which otherwise often looks like a major mistake by the Almighty.
As for Manav asking Arjun about Purvi, that is perfectly justified, for if he loves Purvi still, he is obviously lying when he says he loves Ovi. If I was Manav, I would never let Arjun anywhere near my daughter again no matter what he claims now about loving her.

Dear Sakhile,
Purvi was not adopted by Manav or even adopted by Archana with Manav's consent. She simply decided to adopt the child and gave it the name Deshmukh in a unilateral decision. If Manav had not loved Archana so much regardless of all that she had done - testifying against him in the fake case the chawlwallahs filed against him, obstinately giving baby Soham to Varsha with the consequences that we all know - he would never have accepted Purvi even as beti-jaisi, not to speak of beti.
But he does accept her for Archana's sake, and is very warm and affectionate towards her, plus he trusts her. He defends her to the end, even till just before the secret about Pari comes out. From then on, he detests her, and no wonder. How on earth can you expect him to still have affection for her after all that has come out?
In real life, especially in a chawl, Purvi would have been hounded to desperation by the gossips and she would not have been able to step out of the house without muck being hurled at her. As it is, only Onir cops it good and proper, while Ms.Mahaanta sails thru the whole unscathed.
I am still waiting, probably in vain, to see her get her comeuppance for what she did to Arjun then, and what she is doing to Onir now. Instead, you have these two lallus, like Tweedledum and Tweedledee, singing her praises like a jugalbandi, while she goes around in backless blouses and those unkempt horsehair wigs. The woman in not just a demolition machine, she is also an eye sorrow. The less I see of her bedraggled, sanctimonious self, the more pleased I will be.
The only thing about her that I like is that she furnishes plenty of material for black humour, so she comes in handy for my Comedy Circus posts.
Shyamala
Dear Shyamala, I agree Manav cannot be expected to love Purvi but then no pretense either, please. You cannot promise to be father and choose to be nice and fatherly when things go your way and treat her like an outcast when his daughter is hurting. He did not care a fig when his daughter hurt her so. The man is beyond unreal to me. He left Archana for 18 years, never made an attempt to get in touch with her, then believes stupidly that she is after his money when he gave her not a penny in all those years, as for Archana "giving" Soham to Varsha, she did nothing of the sort in my opinion. Savita egged Archana to give up Soham for adoption, Archana balked at the last minute, Archana at the fated party allowed Varsha to hold Soham, how could she have imagined in her wildest dreams Varsha would go absconding with the baby? Yes, she knew her sister was unstable but not to that extent. Manav like all other men on this show is a hollow character, no depth or steel in him.As for Purvi, please what more does she need? Why only single her out for the wrath of the heavens? She gave up the man of her dreams and bore his child, isn't that comeuppance enough? If Arjun was dummy enough to marry Ovi at her insistence, let us be fair please and lay the blame at Arjun's door and Ovi's door as well. This was not a one woman plan, it was a 3 people deal. Also, the first time around Arjun sleeping with Ovi was conveniently laid fair and square at Purvi's feet, what about yesterday? The guy obviously does get carried away by the charms of his wife. And, yes, I know what you will say that I am siding with Purvi because she is not my ex-ladli but my ladli still😉, not true at all, I can see Ovi's point of view even if she is not my ladli so I can see it from Purvi's perspective as well and even from your ex-ladla Arjun's, and of course, from that of our current favorite, the halo wearer. 😆

So there you are, Janhvi! As forceful, articulate and committed as ever. I should have expected you to pop up,rather like Arjun defending Purvi at today's high decibel shouting match. And what if Purvi is still your ladli? Last I heard, there is no law against it, and it always a pleasure seeing so fine a mind as yours defending her, though of late she does stretch even your abilities.
As for why Purvi should be blamed more than her two tame poodles, why, it is because, after Circe turns strong men into swine, and they trot after her, one blames Circe, not the swine.
Despite this, I have repeatedly lambasted both Arjun and Onir in the most caustic terms, right down to this post. Arjun now is a pathetic excuse for a man, with his mouth half open all the time and his Adam's apple working. And Onir is fast going the same way, with any hope he held out, all too briefly, of his being able to drill some sense into his Mishti having long since been belied.
I cannot be accused of thinking up convoluted arguments to defend either him or Onir. I am sick of both of them, and neither, as each has become by now, is my idea of a strong man. And I do not like supine wimps.
If you have 360 degree vision, and see the points of view of the whole jing bang lot, why, it is admirable, and I am ready to applaud you. As for me, I am the ying to your yang, in that I do not see anyone's point of view. I have neither empathy nor sympathy for any of them. I look straight down at PR, for one can hardly look up at it. And all I see is an ungodly mess and a bunch of characters not worth a dime for the lot.
So you see, I am enjoying the show from a position of unalloyed contempt. It is a safe position to be in.
Shyamala
No 360 degree view, my friend, but looking at them one at a time as through a prism. Each character makes convoluted sense standing alone, it is when any of them come close to another that their motives are blown to smithereens. You are indeed in a safe place, contempt for these circus clowns with Ekta as ringmaster ought to be extremely comical or entertaining, this show leaves a bitter after taste after every epi. I am not going to watch today (if I can help it) as the update sounds like the show is spiraling into more than illogical, it is headed straight into the realms of lunacy.
