why doesn't Asad realise

That's my same argument. It's his choice how he sees life, and his rellationship with Zoya. He can choose to make her happy. He can choose to be happy. But he chooses to dwell on the negative side. I don't blame him entirely, his life was not all rosy. But after seeing how strong his mother is, I agree he should draw from that strength. Not only Dilshad, but even Zoya is a good example for him. Despite having none of her parents with her (soon she'll have her abbu, if they accept each other) she's living life. She has problems and sad realities, but chooses to smile and makes it a point to make sure those around her smile along with her. I think that's also why he's drawn to her more now. But I wish she would rub off on him with her love of life :)
