Shireen-The Other Woman and a Hypocrite?

When the show first started most us (including me!) had a soft corner for naive, innocent little Shireen who seemed to be susceptible to manipulation from her "Bhabhi" and "Bhaijaan". She was portrayed as a good and kind woman who just happened to do something that was morally wrong 20 years ago.

Rashid was rightfully blamed for putting two "innocent" women in a situation that was ugly and painful. However my views on Shireen have changed by the day. There is no denying that she is quite the naive person but to me there is a limit to stupidity. What person in the 21st century believes in blackmagic? Like seriously?!?

Shireen and Dilshaad's confrontation brought one very important thing to fore...the absolute strength and awesomeness of Dilshaad as a woman and a mother and Shireen's in-competencies as both! Shireen, whether she likes to remember it or not, IS the other woman. She will always be the woman who slept with a married man and yet never gained his love or even respect. Yesterday i found it laughable when she was going on and on about "her Ayaan". Where was she when Ayaan needed her the most? Where was she when Ayaan was a baby? Oh that's right she LEFT her two year old son in the care of Dilshaad and her children while she did what?

No matter what the situation- What good mother leaves their toddler with virtual strangers (Dilshaad and Asad were strangers to Ayaan at that point)?

She has the audacity to curse Dilshaad's children! What has Dilshaad or Asad for that matter ever done to her? Or did Shireen forget that Dilshaad almost went against her own son to pay a bribe for Rashid's release? Where was Shireen's dislike and hatred then?

I just cannot feel sorry for this person. And yes STUPIDITY IS A CRIME...especially when you are a "victim" to it all your life!

Theres a limit to what a human can handle and dilshaad has passed hers and she is still strong as ever. Ayaan's engagement is postponed and shireen went crazy, this shows the difference between the two. In the beginning I never liked shireen because she can be easily manipulated to the point of stupidity! What does ayaan have in comparison to asad that dilshaad needs to be Jeleous of?!!! Nothing asad is hot, smart, mannered and responsibly whereas ayaan only knows how to keep the bounce in his hair! Asad's family is happy and shireen needs to back off or else one day she'll find out what true misery is! How dare she curse asad and najma they are kids for gods same have same shame. I really hate her character because she's portrayed so stupid and so weak. I love dilshaad she's the best mother ever portrayed in a show... Unless she hooks tanveer up with asad.

I have often wondered about this. Has CVs seems to have forgotten about Dilshad taking care of her 'sautan's' son while she was herself pregnant...I don't know...it really takes a large heart to do that...if she didn't do anything wrong to her son at that time...why now...I just hope that if no one, at least Ayaan throws this on Shireen's face...

I used to not really care for her didn't really like her and didn't really hate her but now I hate her!! She's literally brainless ...The part that pissed me off was when she said dilshad is always going to be called a woman who is left by her husband. It's like really?

I don't think the Creatives have forgotten this because Ayaan constantly brings up the fact that Asad brought him up for a short while in his life. This is where the bond between Asad and Ayaan stems from so I am 100% sure Shireen's statements about Dilshaad and Asad are going to bite her in the ass and wouldn't it be poetic justice if Ayaan did it. If Ayaan was present at the Waleema you can be damn sure he would have stood up for his brother...especially on this...because despite being quite weak and spoilt as compared to his brother...he KNOWS that Dilshaad and her family are innocent and I don't think he would have stood by listening to his brother being cursed.

This was me too. I didn't like her but I didn't dislike her. I just felt really bad for her. But as the show started progressing I just began to see her as a woman who refuses to help herself! I can't stand ppl like that!

Good post Del. I have never had respect for Shirin, just sympathy. First of all, she has lived in a loveless marriage for 17 years. That's the worst curse a woman could live with. At least, Dilshaad did experience true love, even if for a short time.

Shirin is one woman who is completely delusional and lives in an illusionary universe. She can't see that everyone around her is either unhappy or just manipulative.

At times, she has asked the right questions like : doosri aurat tho hum huye na bhabhi but unfortunately, because of her naivety, she is very gullible also. Razia has taken full advantage of this woman and if Shirin weren't there, a lot of Razia's games would fall flat. Guarding Shirin and keeping her loyal is of utmost important to Razia, Razia, the clever woman that she is, has planned the traps around Shirin very well.

I think ultimately, when Shirin realizes her folly, when all her kids have suffered, she will be the one to sacrifice her life. Shirin is a typical woman in our society who gets carried away by false promises and gets talked into submission by evil but clever people around them.

I agree that she is a pawn in a very big game that Razia is playing however for me her gullibility has limits. After a point I just can't feel sympathy for a person who just cannot think for themselves whether it be a fictional character or a real person.

@brown- Since a lot of her plans involve Shireen, is it possible that Rashid was um seduced into that family with a purpose? Did Razia have another plan that didn't involve Zoya's mother? We still don't know why Rashid and Shireen had an affair in the first place and why the Siddiqui's even entertain a person like Shireen. We also don't know why she so callously left her two year old son. Did Razia have an original plan and if she did what was it?
