CHAPTER 67:

In the meanwhile, Naintara had gained semblance and warned everyone to behave normally in front of Geet. After all that the girl has been through, the last thing they needed was to make Geet conscious by reminding her about all that has transpired. After a while, Geet returned changing into a simple red saree, which made her look divine.

Maan couldn't keep his eyes off her and only jolted back to reality after Arjun nudged him in the stomach, for ignoring what he was saying and sniggered, "Abe teri hi biwi hai! Ghar ja ke stare kar lena."

They were all relaxing after a long time, drinking mock tails and savoring some appetizers. The conversation which had taken place just before had lifted their spirits and everyone was in a fun mood.

Geet was sitting next to Annie, ignoring Maan completely, which irritated him. After many unsuccessful attempts on his part to talk to Geet, he finally gave up and got up from the where he was sitting and went to sit beside Geet on the pretext of keeping his glass on the table.

However, Geet still refused to look at him. Maan looked around to see whether anyone was watching him. Satisfied that everyone was busy, he grasped the opportunity, and gently trailed his forefinger along the curve of her spine. Geet, who had just taken a sip of her drink, started spluttering as it went down the wrong way as she felt her body jolt at his touch. Grabbing the opportunity, Maan turned all solicitous, murmuring in concern and thumping her back. If his hand lingered longer than necessary, no one noticed it except Geet.

After everyone had fussed over her, she settled down and placed her back firmly against the couch, glaring at him, but Maan only gave her an evil smile in return and whispered, "Abhi bhi time hai, bolo mujhse baat karogi ya nahi?"

"Nahi!" she muttered and turned back to Annie, who got up to go and help Naintara lay the table. Geet tried to go too, but Annie hushed her down, telling her to relax. Defeated, she sat back not before passing him a defiant glare and grabbed her phone in an attempt to ignore him.

Maan watched as she pretended to be engrossed in her phone, and leaned over her to see what she was doing. She tried pushing him off, but he slipped his hand inside her pallo and pinched her belly button, making Geet's eyes pop and she looked around frantically to see if anyone noticed. Heaving a sigh of relief, as they were sitting with their backs to everyone and so were out of their line of vision, she angrily pulled his hand away and hissed, "Ye aap kya kar rahe ho? Sharam nahi aati? Wo bhi sabke saamne. Koi dekh lega to." Maan coolly replied, "To? To kya? And trust me Geet, dekh bhi le to yehi sochenge ke humare beech sab theek hai!" He winked and she literally grinded her teeth at his shameless reply, "Babaji inko to sharam hai hi nahi, lekin aap meri reputation ka bhi to kuch sochiye." she cried.

"Babaji se nahi apne pati parmeshwar se request kijiye. Shayad kuch ho jaye." He winked, while his hand naughtily ran all over her skin of her tummy, caressing her.

Geet looked at him helplessly, caught in the trap of his sensuality as her body started reacting to his proximity and his hands were causing havoc within her. However if she thought that she was the only one affected, one look into his heated eyes disabused her of the notion. His eyes had so much passion that she almost drowned in the deep pools of his eyes. Maan's hands strayed upwards, nearly touching the underside of her breast, making her moan, "Maan please…" not knowing whether it was a plea to stop or continue his foray further. Luckily or unluckily they were brought out of their enchanted spell by Naintara's call for dinner.

They jerked apart as if burned and both were blushing red, embarrassed at having forgotten themselves. Annie who looked at them keenly noticed this and mocked, "Why are you two so red? Kya aap log kuch aisa kar rahe the jo aapko nahi karna chahiye tha?" she winked, making Geet turn redder, giving them away.

"Naina di, lagta hai Veerji ekdum Romeo ban gaye hai. Pehle to sirf inke ghar jane se pehle sochna padhta tha, pata nahi kya dekhne ko mile, lekin abhi to ye doosro ke ghar me bhi…." She tut-tutted in mock disappointment while everyone else roared with laughter at their discomfiture.

Finally Dev took pity on them and said, "Haan, hai to tere hi Veerji na! Jaisi behan waisa bhai! I still remember what we had to go through while you and Arjun were in your courting phase." turning the table on Annie. "Jijaji!" Annie whined. "Aapko meri side leni hai!" she stamped her foot in annoyance.

"Agar aap logo ka drama ho gaya hai to kya hum khana kha sakte hai?" Maan reprimanded. "Haan kyu nahi, waise bhi kisi ko ghar jane ki badi jaldi hai. Jaldi se khate hai." came back the reply from Naintara.

Maan threw his hand up in the air and marched to the table, pulling Geet along with him. He made her sit beside him forcibly when she made to sit on other side. "Abhi to tumhara maun vrat toot gaya hai na. Abhi bol sakti ho!"

Geet glared at him, "Nahi aapne cheating ki. Mai abhi bhi baat nahi karungi!"

"Soch lo, mai to waise bhi besharam hu, problem tumhe hi hogi."

Geet thought it over, thinking he was just threatening in the air, after all what could he do when they were all sitting together? She ignored him, and turned to fill her plate.

He leaned over and whispered, "Don't tell me I didn't warn you." and caught hold of her hand which was on the table, pulling it under. He smirked at her furious expression, tightening his grip and refusing to release it. Geet gave him an intense glare but he refused to budge, finally giving in, she started eating with her right hand.

Geet was sulking, pushing her food around, while Dev and Annie were teasing each other with their old anecdotes. Geet smiled listening to their banter, glad to be a part of these people. She looked over at Maan, he was also laughing at some of the reminisces, the lines around his eyes erased as he relaxed with his family.

She so wished that the past one week wouldn't be a dream she would wake up from. She wanted these people as her own, more than that she wanted Maan as her own, she admitted.

She loved him.

And somewhere she was starting to believe he did too, but she was afraid to trust him again. He was such an enigma, changing moods at the drop of a hat.

She had seen him as an arrogant man, the perfect brother, a principled industrialist, a bullheaded husband, the tolerant boss, the selfless savior, the egotistical lover and now a teasing enthusiast.

Her thoughts were interrupted when Arjun asked her to pass the bowl of curry. She smiled and lifted it, her hand trembling a bit as it was a bit heavy to carry to carry with one hand. Naintara looked at her and asked, "Geet, why are you using only one hand? Dono haath se pakdo warna bowl gir jayega." and grabbed it before it fell. Geet passed an apologetic smile to her while glaring at Maan to leave her hand but he only flashed her a naughty grin in return, while tightening his grip over it. Just as she felt she had escaped, Arjun asked, "Arre haan Geet, tum to lefty ho na? So why are you eating with your right hand?"

Put on the spot, she blushed a little, while wriggling to free herself which only made Maan caress his thumb on the underside of her wrist sending tingles down her spine making coherent thought impossible.

"Wo wo….." she flustered, and looked pleadingly at Maan only to find him eating as if nothing was happening. "Dusht Danav!" she fumed when suddenly a bright idea struck her, "Haan! Mere jo boss hai na, wo bahoot khadoos hai! Unhi ne mujhe kaha, ke 'Geet, learn to use your right hand too!' He said he doesn't like left handed people" and made a cute innocent pitiable face.

Maan coughed as everyone smirked at her statement, and looked teasingly at Maan.

"Arre kaun hai wo bewakoof boss jisko humari Geet nahi pasand?" Naintara asked sarcastically while Maan gave his infamous glares to all, which was lost on Geet. "Haan di bilkul sahi kaha!" she was full on in her DQ mode by now and didn't see the expressions of amusement on everyone's faces, "Khadoos aur bewakoof dono hi hai! Mujh bechari pe itna zulm hota hai ke mai kya batau. Poora din bas kaam kaam kaam. Ufff. Aur upar se unke tane!"

"Accha? Aur itna zulm tumhare boss ne tumpar kabh kiya?" Maan demanded.

"Kiya to kiya! Aapko usse kya? Aap kya kam karte ho!" she retorted glaring at their joined hands which he was still holding, pissed off at his behavior and turned back to her plate.

Annie saw her chance to tease Maan and asked Geet, "Waise Geet, tumhare boss hai kaise? Khadoos aur bewakoof ke saath koi acchi quality bhi to hogi na? Koi smart sa dashing munda hoga na? Bilkul attitude wala. Ufff! Hot hot boss." She winked at Maan slyly.

"Kahe ka hot hot boss Annie! I have never met him. He never comes to office and does all work via email. Maine bas unse email pe hi baat ki hai."

"Ohh? And why is that?" Naintara chimed.

"How would I know Di?" she said innocently, "Mujhe to lagta hai he has no life. Bas kaam kaam kaam. He sends me so much work. Bande ki koi life hi nahi hai."

Annie consented, "Haan Geet! You must be right." While muttering under her breath so that Geet who was sitting far off from her couldn't hear her properly but Maan who was next could. "Agar unhe apni impotent mittings se fursat milegi tabhi to life hogi na!" making Maan glare at her while everyone else sniggered. Geet got confused and asked. "Tumne kuch kaha Annie?"

Annie smirked at Maan and replied, "Maine ye kaha ke maybe your hot hot boss just likes you so much Geet, isliye he gives you special attention. Kaam to bas bahana hai…." making Geet laugh.

"Rehne de Annie, bundle mat maar. Meri aisi kismet kaha." she sighed mock dreamily, then glared at Maan. "Meri kismet me to bas tumhare ye sadu se Veerji hi hai!"

"Geeettt…" Maan said through gritted teeth, even though a huge part of him rejoiced at her unconscious acceptance of him as hers, while Geet smiled at him scornfully.

"Waise bhi I am sure he is some old buddha! Who has all his teeth missing and so doesn't wish to show his face in public. Maine to unki ek sketch bhi banayi thi. Aur use apne pc pe laga diya tha!" Geet said in an offhand manner, making Maan choke on his dinner while everyone burst out into laughter.

He spluttered hard and his hold loosened on her hand. Geet immediately got up to pat his back in concern, "Aapko kya hua?" Hurriedly taking water she gave it to him, "Drink this." she fussed, forgetting that she was not supposed to talk to him.

The others were still laughing hysterically while Maan managed to regain his breath and glare at Geet, "Tumhe kisne bola ye sab?"

"Kya?" she replied, genuinely confused.

"Tumhare boss ke baare me." He gritted, to which she laughed. "Kisi ke bolne ki kya zaroorat hai. Mera dimaag hai. Use maine istemal kiya. Warna aap hi batayiye wo aisa kyu karenge? Itni badi company and the CEO remains hidden? Kuch to gadbad hai na." She said snottily. "Mujhe to lagta hai shayad takle bhi hai! Bilkul Uncle Scrooge ki tarah."

Everyone who had just managed to calm down doubled over into another fit of laughter watching Maan's face turn the colour of puce.

"Tumhe mai Uncle Scrooge dikhta hu!" he yelled. Geet's shocked look made him realize his mistake and he changed it to, "Mera matlab hai tumhare boss ke bare me tumhe aisa nahi kehna chahiye!"

"Kyu nahi? Agar abhi unko apni shakal nahi dekhani to mujhe visualize karne ke liye koi to photo chahiye na? Wo sketch jo maine banayi thi na, use Adi sir ne dekh liya aur poocha mujhse, jab maine kaha ke boss ki hai to he started making these weird noises, mujhe to pata hi nahi chala ke has rahe hai ke ro rahe hai!" she continued, unaware of everyone's mirth and Maan's increasing irritation.

"Adi tum to pakka gaye!" Maan muttered angrily under his breath.

"Aur to aur, unhone meri sketch bhi cheen li! Kaha ke unhe acchi lagi wo khud rakehnge" she complained.

Arjun patted her in mock pity, "Arre isme itna dukhi hone ki kya baat hai! Tum wapas bana lena. In fact mai to bolta hu abhi banau, dinner ke baad, hum sabko bhi to pata chale ke tumhare boss dikhte kaise hai!"

She became quite excitedly with the idea, "Aapko draw karke batau abhi?"

"Nahi!!" Maan almost screamed, "Uski koi zaroorat nahi hai! Tum apne boss ko chodo aur kaam pe dhyaan do." while passing a stern look to all around which had no effect on anyone. They were enjoying Maan's discomfiture to the hilt.

Geet sulked, "Aapko to meri har baat me problem hai! Aap rehne do! mai in sab ko draw karke bataungi!" and turned back to the others, ignoring him, "Aapko pata hai Jijaji, mujhe to Uncle Scrooge perfect lagte hai mere Boss ke hisaab se. Shakal se bhi aur akal se bhi!"

"Wow Geet tum to badi smart nikli!" Annie clapped trying to control her laughter, "Jhat se pehchan liya!" while giggling continuously.

"Haan! Yaha sab ko pata hai Geet ka dimaag kitna tez chalta hai." Maan jeered and then turned to Geet, "To please tum uspe zyada zor mat dala karo Geet. Kahi overuse se jo bache kuche neurons hai unka bhi burnout na ho jaye." making Geet's eyes widen in anger.

"Kya aap mujhe bewakoof keh rahe ho?" She asked angrily, to which he smiled innocently, "Maine ye kab kaha? Mai to tumhare dimaag ki errr…tareef..kar raha hu."

She banged her hand on the table and turned to everyone who were watching them, "Dev Veerji…" she whined, "Inko kahiye na."

"Arre wo bechara kya kahega, jo sach hai wo sach hai!"

"Aapse to baat hi karna bekaar hai! Chaddo!" she fumed and started eating jerkily.
