I think Swami could have just shown his SIU ID-card to the hotel manager and would have got the permission to see the video footage. I do not think all that drama in the hotel lobby was required.

The person who was disguised as a taxi driver was a SIU agent. If the SIU has stopped supporting them then how come he was there? Moreover 'SIU has stopped supporting them' does not mean that they have taken their ID's away.
