CHAPTER : 5 :
Manyata , what did u do? I killed Akash ... I shot him! Uday shut his eyes and a tear rolled down. He ruined my life , usne meri zindagi ki sare kushiyan cheen li ... ... after doing what he did , HE HAD NO RIGHT TO LIVE! I don't regret it - not 1 bit ... the only thing I regret is - WHY DIDN'T I DO IT SOONER!
Uday moved closer , to hug Manyata but she stopped him : Don't Uday. Princess - don't push me away. We were apart for so long ... don't create more distance between us! Let's just put everything behind us! No Uday - I can't do that! My heart is in a million pieces ... & you're responsible for that! , she accused.
Manyata - I didn't go away , because I wanted to. I know all the details Uday ... I WAS THERE! , she spat angrily. Then , why the hell ; are u angry with me?, he asked losing his temper. I don't know ; I DON'T KNOW UDAY, Manyata screamed. I can't control it anymore! I know I shouldn't be ... as u were a victim, just as I was ... BUT I AM!!!
I had to manage your empire by myself ... I had to deal with our riyasat matters all by my lonesome ... I felt like u abandoned me, Uday. And over everything else ... I WAS PREGNANT! I was going to be a single-parent to our child - DO U KNOW HOW SCARY THAT WAS?
I was pining for you , I was grieving for you ... I mourned for you! And, where were you ? ... enjoying life with a new identity in Chittorgarh! Oh! So , that's what this is ALL ABOUT! Well Princess - I wasn't "ENJOYING LIFE" as u put it ... I had no memory of who I was. A large chunk of my life was missing , so if u think that I was happy there , while u were in pain here - then , U are wrong! Hummphh!!! , she shook her head - not believing him. U looked very happy from what I saw! WHAT!!! WHAT ARE U TALKING ABOUT? NOTHING , just nothing ... FORGET IT!
Quickly , she changed the subject : Tell me Uday , what would u have done, if I carried out your last wish? , she asked as she wiped her tears. Last wish? , he whispered as if trying to remember. Hmmm ! WHAT IF I REMARRIED?
Uday just stared at her blankly. For the first time ... he had no words to say. U know Uday ... I never accepted our marriage from the beginning; but the day I did - I GAVE YOU MY EVERYTHING! I was going to be YOUR wife till the day I DIED ... NOT , till the day , u died.
I was horrified , when I heard what u wanted me to do. How could u even think that? U permitted me ... to have ANOTHER MAN in my life! Uday's anger was rising by his wife's words ; but he was grinding his teeth in an attempt to calm his temper.
Uday - the other night , when we were together and u found that I was lactating ... so quickly , you asked about "YOUR CHILD" . What if I did get married again and I had a child with my new husband? Where would that have left you ... afterall ; it was you that gave me your BLESSING , TO MOVE FORWARD!
She smirked when she noticed his clenched fists. Say something Uday ... U wanted me "TO BE HAPPY AGAIN" ... isn't that , what was on the tape? HOW THE HELL WAS I GOING TO BE HAPPY WITHOUT YOU? HOW THE HELL WAS I GOING TO BE HAPPY WITH ANOTHER MAN , TOUCHING ME ; ALL THE PLACES WHERE I ONLY GAVE ONLY YOU , THE RIGHT TO TOUCH? , she shouted.
Bas Manyata , BAS!!! , Uday's scream echoed in the farm-house. He held Manyata tightly on her upper arm and squeezed it. DON'T U DARE TALK LIKE THAT! , he yelled as he tightened his grip on her arm. Both stared at each other in anger ... their reddened eyes, speaking volumes. Manyata broke the stare and looked at Uday's fingers encircled around her arm , Uday too , followed her gaze. Quickly he removed his hand , when he realised the pain he was causing her : Sorry Princess! I shouldn't have ... No Uday , she interrupted , I'm happy that you did it. I'm glad that you're still so possessive about me! Princess ... nothing will change , how I feel about you! , he cupped her face ... but I don't want to ever hear such words from your mouth again. I dont want to ever think about , someone ; OTHER THAN ME , getting intimate with you!
Yeah Uday ... I feel the same about you , she took a deep breath , before restarting the topic , she abandoned earlier ... did u sleep with Shivani , Uday? The question shocked Uday to the core. He moved away from her : WHAT!!! U heard me! No Princess - NEVER! DON'T LIE TO ME UDAY! I saw with my own eyes , how close you'll were. Uday began recalling the time when Manyata was watching "Veer" and Shivani kissing ... when he only kissed Shivani, to make Manyata jealous. Uday moved toward Manyata and attempted to explain : Princess - that was NOTHING ... it's not what u think! Really Uday? I think ... YOUR TONGUE WAS HALF-WAY DOWN HER THROAT ; so, are u telling me that I'm wrong? , she shoved him hard and just glared at him.
Uday shook his head in frustration : Manyata - looks like whatever I say , is not going to matter , because u have already made up your mind on everything. YOU HATE ME FOR "LEAVING YOU" ALONE & PREGNANT! YOU HATE ME FOR BREAKING MY PROMISES TO YOU! YOU HATE ME BECAUSE I LEFT SO MANY TASKS FOR YOU TO CARRY OUT , IN MY ABSENCE! YOU HATE ME FOR HAVING A LIFE , THAT DIDN'T INCLUDE YOU! YOU HATE ME FOR LOOKING OUT FOR YOU! He gritted his teeth , before announcing : YOU HATE ME FOR ... STILL BEING ALIVE!!! ,with that , he walked briskly out of the room.
Manyata was stunned by his last statement. Before she could react , Uday was out-of-sight. She quickly ran behind him and on reaching "his" room, he shut and locked the door on her. Uday , Uday ; she banged on the door. Uday , I always wanted you to come back to me ... I wanted u to be alive. I don't hate you! God , Uday -open this door , she cried.
Uday , sat himself down on a large sofa and held the half-drunk Whiskey bottle in his hand. He ignored the banging sound that Manyata was creating. Uday - PLEASE! Listen to me, Uday. I LOVE YOU!!! He unscrewed the cap and poured the contents into a glass. Within seconds ... the bottle was empty as he downed 4 glasses. The room had suddenly gotten quiet , Manyata had obviously left. Uday began comparing the home-coming , he was expecting and the 1 he finally got. He closed his eyes and laid back on the recliner ... trying to forget the last 2 hours of his life.
Dada , Dada , Unnati knocked on the door after a few hours. A sleepy Uday , eventually opened it. Dada - do u know where's Bhabhisa'? She missed Udita's feeding and I'm starting to get worried. What! Chotti , she must be somewhere in the house ... I looked Dada , she's nowhere. It was time for Baby's feeding , when I didn't find Manyata , I fed her formula ... even though the doctor advised not to do that. Chotti - chup , he cupped Unnati's face as he knew her babbling was only because of worrying about Manyata; you take care of Udita , I'll find Manyata.
He peeped in on Udita. His baby was sleeping so peacefully; totally oblivious of the huge argument, her parents had. Unnati handed him his jacket : Dada - it's -2 degrees outside. He thanked her , before confirming ... are u sure , she's not in the house? I double-checked Dada.
The ranch was a huge piece of property. Uday decided to scan the perimeter of the grounds , before searching anywhere else. He eventually saw a tiny Manyata , standing at the edge of the dam , miles away ... at the end of their land.
The frosty-winds were howling; as if a tropical-storm was about to hit. MANYATA!!!, he called out to her , but his voice got drowned; even before it reached her. A bolt of lightening cracked through the skies , followed by a roaring thunder ... but all this went by unnoticed by Manyata. She was too busy having a silent conversation , with her own reflection, in the dam's water. What has happened to you, Manyata? Everyday - u cried for Uday to return ... and now that he's back; CAN'T U JUST BE HAPPY? Why are you arguing with him? Why are u digging up those skeletons , that should remain buried? Is Uday right ... do u hate him for NOT DYING ; when u thought he did? , the reflection asked.
NO! , she screamed , and covered her ears with her palms. Hot tears flowed out of her shut eyes. Another thunderous blast sounded , and a cloud burst. Torrents of rain started to pour , while Uday continued to run towards Manyata. No - this can't go on. UDAY IS BACK WITH ME! I AM HAPPY! I'm overjoyed that we're getting a second chance together. ALL that happened in the past , will remain IN THE PAST! I LOVE UDAY ... and ... her silent declaration got disturbed , when she saw Uday's image on the water ... and knew that he was standing behind her.
Manyata was soaked to the bone , the cotton pants and shirt she had on , was stuck to her body like a second skin. From the vision on the water, she couls see Uday removing his jacket ... obviously to put over her. After what happened earlier, she didn't have the guts to face him , but she did say : Uday - just hold me!
Slowly , he encircled his arms around her waist and back-hugged her. She leaned her back closer to him and dropped all her weight on him. The warmth of his body made her feel secure ... a feeling , she didn't have for a long time. Princess - what are u doing here? WAITING! For what? Waiting for you to find me. You always said that where-ever in the world I'll be ... YOU'LL FIND ME! Uday let out a small smile before kissing her on the side of her head.
She held up something shiny, which she took out from her pocket. It was the pendant and chain set , "Veer" wanted to gift her. Tell me Uday ... what would've happened if "Veer" was a third person; and U only came back when he became a permanent fixture in my life? , she asked in a low , but serious tone. Then Princess ... he paused for a while , then completed ... then we'd be having a THREESOME right now! Manyata broke out of his hug , turned to face him and stared at him with an open-mouth. He raised his eye-brows at her , in expectation of an answer. She gave him a hard punch in the chest : Halkat , Veda ... 24/7 only 1 thing on your mind! Haan nai toh , he said and winked ; and both laughed.
An intense eye-lock proceeded their laughter and Manyata moved closer to Uday - to kiss him. He moved away from her , dissappointing her. I'm sorry for everything Uday ... kya tum abhi bhi naraaz ho mujhse ? Nahi , bilkul nahi. Toh phir? , she asked as she neared him again. Yet again , he backed away. Woh , humne ... he hesitated , but eventually completed ... humne sharaab pi li! , he said in the most pitiful manner.
Manyata couldn't help but laugh. She grabbed his both cheeks and pinched them hard , shaking his head from side to side. Do u know how cute u are? , she said between her laughter , and then finally let go. Ya - I do! , he answered , while rubbing his stinging cheeks.
Uday and Manyata walked to the farm-house hand-in-hand , as the rain saturated them even more. Uday just stared at Manyata , noticing that she didn't flinch when it thundered. Princess - aren't u afraid of the storm anymore? She smiled at him and shook her head : A lot has changed in the last year Uday. Yeah , YOU'VE changed. NO! I just grew up because my "PROTECTOR" wasn't around anymore!
O teri ! , she exclaimed suddenly. Kya hua? I missed Baby's feeding , she said as she pulled Uday's hand , in order to move faster. Relax Princess - YOUR baby had her milk and is fast asleep. MY BABY??? , she questioned. Uday , I didn't make her myself! I know that , Princess ... but she's just like you - therefore ; YOUR BABY! Like ME? Matlab? JUNGLI!!! Hawww!!! Tumne HAMARI beti ko JUNGLI kaha! Aur nahi , toh kya. She kicks me and screams at me ... JUST LIKE HOW U USED TO! , he pouted pathetically. Awww ... will this make u feel better? , she asked before crashing her lips onto his. Hmmm ... it's working already , he mumbled between the kiss.
