Dearest CIDian fellow women/girls, of all age groups, I wanted to share with you an incident that would have been a very serious case had I not trusted my Gut feelings. This is just to tell u that this common incident can happen with u, me, any other. One has to be smart, have commonsense and mostly, trust the first doubt entering one's mind- the gut feeling.
Yesterday Night, at 09.30 hours, Mumbai. An sms came for me, from a placement recruitment agency in Goregoan. It said Call me at Ten pm.
It really struck me odd. So I asked my landlady who was in the house for advice. She said to call and find out.
So Call I did. A man talked in broken English, telling me to speak in Hindi. Then he asked for my credentials. Then he did something which raised my doubts to its peak. The next day being Gudi Pawa, lots of offices are shut, and any professional person would ask to drop in at the office at an appropriate time.
He asked me to meet him outside Goregaon station either at 8.30 am or 6.30 pm, naming some odd place. I got suspicious, and I headlong tackled him, asking him about the whereabouts, and why not meet at the office at 12pm.
He made dumb excuses after excuses. So I said I will see, I will confirm. He hurriedly told me that he would call the next day.
His call never came. My suspicions scared him off. It has rattled him.
Being a cop's daughter probably helped me because I have learnt to trust my instincts and my family/friends. But not every day a woman applies common sense and her gut feelings.
Fellow ladies, u can understand by now what would have happened if I have been foolishly listening to him. It is my personal request to you all. Dont fall Victims, Dont be Victims. Trust yourselves and Always let your family and people around know, whether u are 14 or 41.
Be Safe.
Suhaani.
