Attempt to kidnap Sajid Nadiadwala's Kids

MUMBAI: A man attempted to kidnap film producer Sajid Nadiadwala's two children, aged 5 and 9, on Tuesday after lying to the security guards at their Juhu school that he had been sent by the mother to pick them up. The guards refused to accept the potential kidnapper's story, and alerted school authorities.

The man reportedly knew the names of both the kids and the parents.

The Juhu police, who have started inquiries into the identity of the suspect, also strengthened security in the area after the kidnap attempt, as the children of many celebrities study in the school, Ecole Mondiale World School.

At around 3pm on Tuesday, an unknown man approached security guards at Ecole Mondiale World School in Juhu and told the security guards that film producer Sajid Nadiadwala's wife Wardha had sent him to pick up the couple's two children. The security guards doubted the stranger's intentions and told him to call up Wardha to confirm that she had sent him.

A source said, "The security guards were very alert and insisted that the accused call Wardha, but he didn't make the call. The accused waited at the spot for around 15 minutes and then left." The guards then immediately alerted school authorities about the stranger and the cops informed the Nadiadwala family.

Police say they have the description of the suspect from eyewitnesses as well as CCTV cameras in the area. They are also looking into the possibility that he's part of a gang.

Since the school is attended by the children of celebrities like Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, an emergency meeting was called by the staff, who have also taken serious note of the kidnap attempt.

Though the Nadiadwalas were unavailable for comment, a source said, "There could be a connection between the kidnap attempt and those involved in a robbery at Nadiadwala's house in 2009." The source added that a security guard working with the Nadiadwalas had robbed Rs 8 lakh in cash and Rs 40 lakh in gold at gunpoint. Nadiadwala and his wife were returning from a party in the early hours when their security guard and his accomplices threatened them with firearms and looted their house. "The crime branch arrested all the accused in the case," the source said, adding, "There has been pressure on Nadiadwala to go soft in the case and not be a witness against the accused."

The police added that it's most possibly not a random attempt as the suspect knew the names of the kids and their parents. Police protection has been given to the family of Nadiadwala, who has produced films like Housefull, Housefull 2, Judwaa, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega...

^ So if the school wasn't attended by other celebrities, the meeting wouldn't have been called? 😕
