I think the percentage of ppl accused of being a witch is far less than the percentage of women abused after watching the kalakaris on TV. So ban all ridiculous Saas bahu dramas first.

But this is not a gender issue. There are witches and there are warlocks. All pagan practitioners face equal risk.

Yes then it should be taken up as a social issue...and not a women's issue...these feminists tend to make everything about women...that is my problem...Why the heck is the National womens' commission is being involved here...why not take it up in a regular court is my point...

Hi there,
😲
In fact to add to the promotion of the movie Ek Thi Daayan a Book titled Daayan is to be launched

Vishal Bharadwaj and Ekta Kapoor are taking the promotions for Ek Thi Daayan a notch higher. They came up with a unique idea of producing a television series called 'Ek Thi Naayika', for which the top actresses of the television industry were roped in. Now, the duo is all set to release a book called 'Daayan' by Ved Prakash Sharma. This book will have real stories related to witches and supernatural powers.

Apart from the stories, it will also have a gist of the film. Interestingly, in one of the episodes, Shweta Tiwari was shown reading a Ved Prakash novel about daayans.

The book will soon be available in stores. Ek Thi Daayan is all set to release on 19th April, 2013.

Great!

This means no action films b/c people will beat each other...No films with love stories with a sad ending b/c people will just break each other's hearts...No films with gangs b/c then people will form more gangs...No films with guns b/c then people will buy more guns...No films with smoking b/c people with smoke more...No films with ghosts b/c then more ghosts will think it's ok to haunt people...No films with evil aliens b/c then more aliens will come and bother us!🤪

Are you effin' kidding me! This is some cracked up stuff...I mean seriously, spent your time and money on real issues and not on ficitonal films b/c films are a kind of art/a craft/a medium one uses to express an IDEA!

^Umm, none of the above actually happens in real life (people beating up each other after seeing an action movie). But burning of "witches" in villages IS a real problem.

I feel ipsita is right on her place. If they are showing burning women (witches?), its not a good thing potrayed in the film. The film says "Chudail ki saari taakat uski choti me hoti h", this is a worldwide release which will also be shown in rural areas & women are actually hunted there as suspected witches, so will all women having long chotis will be suspected as witches? Probably Yes which will further infuriate the witches superstitions.

I know that because of such things, you can't let the art affect so I think they should probably censor the oversensitive stuff & give out a huge disclaimer against some actions in the film which might promote superstition. That's the only way for both parties to be satisfied IMO.

@bold: leave villages...my female boss in office has long hairs n makes a lonnng choti...n now ppl call her a daiyan coz of that..coz movie talks the same 😆😆 jab big time metros mein this is the case...what can we say abt villages!!!😕

Yeah, but that doesn't happen after watching a film...people have done even before films were made. Besides, a take away point from this can be that those that are ignorant about this issue will learn about and maybe, just maybe it might invoke others to do something about it.

But let's be honest, ETD isn't going to change the minds of those that believe in hunting and burning "witches"...they're gonna believe it no matter what.
