She crawls at her mother in law's feet like a coward, and in her own house wants to feel in control. Sandhya does not give her that comfort, and asserts her own opinions, and for that sake, she has to put her down as much as possible. Use all the tricks in her pocket. Sandhya wants to keep her principles, without hurting Sooraj or the respect she owes her mother in law.. So she takes up all the challenges that are thrown at her. She will try to change society, but not change the attitude of her mother in law. It is a slow and steady job, and a life time achievement. Whether people like Bhabo can change is a question, which no one has answered. It has taken so many centuries and still this mentality persists, and this is I think what the writer of the story is trying to tell. If the Society changes in future, when the present generation will reach to be mothers in law, perhaps the genre of Bhabo will disappear from the scene. Will it ?
