Abbas-Mustan Confirm Directing Remake of Vettai
Box Office India was the first to reveal that the remake of the Tamil hit Vettai would be directed by Abbas-Mustan and feature Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead.
Confirming this, Mustan says, "Yes, UTV has signed us to direct the film. And Abhishek and John will play the leading roles in it. We are yet to decide on the leading ladies."
Apparently, after UTV Motion Pictures worked with the director duo on Race 2, the studio decided to sign them for Vettai. But what made the directors say yes to the Tamil hit? "UTV asked us to watch the film and when we saw it, we really liked the plot and agreed to do the film. It's been quite a long time since Bollywood has made a film on two brothers. Vettai has a strong plot about two brothers and their relationship," reveals Mustan.
South remakes are becoming blockbuster hits in Bollywood but Abbas believes a director has to make a few changes to the script. "We have made the changes according to the mass audience," he says.
Earlier, there was talk that N Linguswamy, who has directed the Tamil version of the film, would direct the remake and Shahid Kapoor would feature in it. However, Mustan says they are not aware of this. "We are totally unaware of this fact. Ever since we came on board, we knew that Abhishek-John are doing the film."
And when will the film will go on the floors? "Abhishek and John will start shooting for Dostana 2 and will start our film only after that as they signed that film before this one," says Mustan.
