I absolutely LOVED that line!

Illaben - a mother, telling her son Raju that only what is written in their destiny will happen. To this, a true teacher responds with an invaluable lesson...

"Apna bhaagya Khud likho!" "Write your own destiny!"

Right you are Kumud!

She not only preaches it but lives accordingly. She decided to help Saras. She stood up against the entire village, heck she even went up against the one person she has never raised her voice against - Badima (Dugba). She is truly creating her destiny guided by her courage, love, and above all - an unshakable faith in the truth!

Illaben, you were right too! Any man would be blessed to have a wife like Kumud! But who can be so deserving???...

Why Saras of course!

He may not have said it, but he too exemplifies this very trait of taking control of your destiny. If he really wanted, he could have easily dished out a load of money and ended the story. But he's going against all odds, all the people, even his self respect because he has faith in himself to do what he thinks is right, and achieve what he set out to do."

"Mujhe kuch bhi karke yeh saare ghade bechne honge,
chaahe puri raat hi kyu na lag jaay!"

What a match! These two characters are so inspiring! I just hope that everyone watching this show realizes the importance of this in their own lives. In a society where everyone is easily dejected and ready to take the shortest route, these two show us that we really are the makers of our own destiny!👏

Very well written ! Mr. Bhansali said during the launch that times have changed but the age old morals and value system hasn't which is what audience will relate to when they watch this period drama in a contemporary set up. Righteousness, honesty, respect for elders, tolerance, endurance, perseverance there is so much to learn from Kumud and Saras's character. They are true match in the real sense, irrespective of whether they end up together or not.

Awesome post 👏 , both Saras and Kumud have high morals and are truly made for each other. They are idealists in every sense 😊

It really helps to see an idealist, make that two, on screen. I have always been one and felt out of place in my world. Being an outspoken woman like Kumud always brushes people the wrong way - doesn't matter if they are Indian, Desi or in my case, American mixture. I am glad someone like her is shown in a positive light in this show rather than being called ahem, "hitler didi."

He's so true! I guess that's one of the reason why I like this show so much.

I know exactly what you mean and its unfortunate that idealists are looked upon as outcasts and even fools. Even sometimes when shown in a positive light, when emulated in real life its considered impractical. I hope as more of characters like these and chan chan are introduced, we'll have more of us who feel like we belong 😊
