Chori ka saamaan
"So, tell me", RK passed a glass full of wine to Madhu. "How did you decide to run away?"
"We are sitting in your private jet. How do I know you won't drug me and drop me in Kathmandu?" She inspected the liquor thoroughly before giving in.
"Well, you don't but, look at you. You did not wait for an answer so, I know you trust me".
"In your dreams", she snorted.
"You do a lot more than just trust…..in my dreams". With his flirty comment, Rishabh invited a rotten grape thrown at him along with a death stare from Madhubala.
Minutes more passed in silence, "I am glad I came", she finally said."What now?"
RK looked at her in confusion. What now was right. He had not thought this through.
"I could take you back to my place".
She shot down the idea before he could finish. He led her to the walk in closet in hopes of taking her mind off the uncertainty of the near future.
"Pick what you like", he gestured to the clothes assorted by colour, brand and style.
He expected her to choose a modest indian salwaar kameez. Instead, she picked up a body con red dress that sat right on her hip, the sweetheart neckline, doing no favours to her bruised body.
"Overcorrection much?" He whistled.
"I only want people to see where I am from. I come from a bad past and I am not ashamed of it because it is the past. Plus, nothing in this world is for free. I can picture you asking me for sexual favours any minute now. I am only preparing".
"Oh please", he scoffed as she went in a corner to change. When she made her entry again, his jaw dropped to the floor and rolled out a carpet in her honour. He couldn't see the bruises or the cuts or the hurt, just Madhu and her beauty.
"You look.…ummm. I mean wear some stockings. I don't want people thinking I did this to you".
"I am certain you want something from me. I am taking advantage of your resources and you don't say anything? Does not sound very business savvy to me. Better if you spit it out sooner rather than later".
He kept his mum and sipped on the pinot. It was a long flight ahead with a scantily clad beauty watching his every move.
Back in the desert, artists' block was keeping Rishabh on his toes. It was just not the same anymore; not that he tried looking for Madhu. She was long gone and he knew it. All he had to do was think of her frame again. Just picture her in his head and he could paint.
"Goddamitt! Maa, where the hell is everybody? Clean this shit up".
He stepped on broken glass and his blood mixed with the dried red from Madhu's wounds.
He saw her signs everywhere. Her makeup box with half empty stacks of foundation, layers of concealer colours and dried up tears; stained white sheets where he made love to her.
The broken paint jars and his fingers under her skin; khookari in the bronze glass and his claws pinching her nerves.
He missed her, he missed hurting her.
He began searching, not for Madhu but for the laal sari. Madhu in the laal sari?
He was about to go insane when someone broke his madness.
"Laxmi bole kisi RK ke kanne Bumbei chali teri lugaayi", Radha revived her son from a fit of mania.
"Ja jeet ke laa us chori kee huye saaman ko", she patted him on the back and blessed him to come out victorious.
(Laxmi told me your wife left for Mumbai with some dude named RK. Go win back your stole possession).
yaayyy me first 🤣
Okay coming to the point !!
