Ladke ki baat hain, pizza nahi ki 30 minute mein ready ho jayega……Toh kya mein tere uppar janne tak ka intezzar karoon…..I had just started enjoying this little squabble between Daddi and the match maker Sudha Ben and there comes a guy with dog's face ….. Aap shakal mein adjustment kar lo yeh age mein kar lega … OMG ….. I was in stitches from laughing so hard. This was certainly one of the wittiest starts I have witnessed in a very very long time. The start itself set the comic tone of the show.
The episode that followed was equally balanced and well paced. We met Chhanchhan' (Sanaya Irani) cool and modern family, her close friends bonded for life and her cute dogs – the cutest being Puchpuch. On her route to wedding of one of her friends, as a case of happenstance, she enters into a nasty argument with Umaben (Supriya Pathak). But the icing on the cake was sneezing entry of the male lead of the show. Dog trainer to fall in love with a dog allergic – must say the jodi makers are at their humorous best.
The show, as promised, has a modern look and appeal. Unconventional family with unusual professions for a daily soap – dog trainer, tattoo designer, wide life photographer, history professor, modern art painter; independent female protagonist who respects all but is not scared of voicing her opinion; wears sari to a wedding to respect the tradition but a readymade skirt style sari so that she can ride her scooter to the venue; 5 very unusual vows of today's women who intent to mould their mom-in-law as per their accord.
It was refreshing, as usual, to see Sanaya. Her introductory scene to be with dogs was as anticipated, nothing out of the blue. News is that these dogs were selected post audition of 160 dogs by the production team and this is what led to delay in selection of rest of the cast in the show. Wonder how they would bring a turn in the story! Wrangling betweenSanaya and Supriya is surely to be looked forward to as their chemistry appears to be quite promising. Though we just hope that post Chhanchhan's marriage the show does not enter into the typical saas-bahu genre.
I was a little disappointed with the male lead Farhan Khan. Being a new comer, think a few more rehearsals could have been useful. He will have to work real hard in future to live up to expectations of Sarun fans (Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani) to create the magic they have been waiting for with a baited breath. As of now, Sanaya's fans are just overwhelmed to have her back on their Television.
And this is why precisely Sony TV roped her in as lead for their show. Entire marketing and publicity of the show was solely focused around her evidencing their intent to garnerTRP's using her immense fan following and popularity. It is an ambitious project for Sony TV as the channel has failed miserably in attempt to break its 9:00 pm slot jinx in the past. Earlier Saas Bina Sasural, which used to be aired at 9:00 pm, was axed for Hongey Judaa Na Hum which now has been axed to make way for Chhanchhan.
Sony TV is betting high with this show for its 9:00 pm slot. They have done fairly well so far. They have been successful in creating a lot of stir with the promos and surely managed to grab eyeballs for the launch; though TRP is not yet out. Will Sanaya be able to break out of her image of Khushi and dig out gold for Sony is something for all of us to find out? As of now, we sincerely hope her luck for her show and are looking forward to yet another great performance from her.
