'Kunal took our act very personally'
By: Vickey Lalwani
November 8, 2006

Misunderstood: Gaurav and Narayani ..uffff .kitne pyar se dekh raha hai usse.. don't worry G/S fans, its an old picture😉..pic=18/8/06

You'd expect that every contestant to have been voted out on Nach Baliye 2 would have a fair and equal opportunity to zip back into the contest via the Wild Card round.

However, that doesn't seem to be the case. That's why Gaurav Chopraa and Narayani Shastri pulled out from the round but later reversed their decision as they didn't want to be labelled spoilsports.

Villainous act
Narayani and Gaurav were compelled to change their script one day before their performance, which aired on Monday. Their original act was to begin with clippings of Malaika Arora and Kunal Kohli looking disappointed at their ouster. But the channel later requested them to make changes, which the couple brought in hastily.

Interestingly, it seems their defiant act went against them. Chopraa and Shastri believe that the judges took their lines 'Hero end mein aake villain ki band bajata hai' personally. Kohli even confronted Gaurav with, "Why are you calling us villains?"

That bit was edited out from the episode by the channel. After the act, Gaurav explained to Saroj Khan that they did not mean offence. He even told her about the clippings they were debarred from using. Saroj, however, did not have much to say in return.

The damage was done. The couple received only 22 points. A friend of the couple said, "The production house and the channel cannot deny forcing Gaurav and Narayani to change their script, because Gaurav even has the messages stored on his phone. The orders came from the production house, who said that the channel wanted it that way."

Getting personal
When contacted, Gaurav was shocked that we had learnt about the incident. Reluctant to talk about it at first, he finally relented and said, "That 'villain line' was not in our original script. A few hours before the act, we were informed that we couldn't use those clippings. We argued, but to no avail. Since the track was ready, we had to substitute something in that place."

Gaurav added that the clippings were the motivation behind their performance. "Consequently, their omission hampered our performance. The night before, when we should have been relaxing with a cool frame of mind, we were making changes in our choreography. What's worse, I think the judges misunderstood our act and thought that we were directing ire against them. Kunal made it obvious that he had taken it personally. And pray, why was I asked by Rajeshwari Sachdev who the villain was? Wasn't that an instigating question?"

The couple was also dissed for performing in anger. Gaurav said, "We had chosen a song that was joshila, so obviously we had to dance with josh. We were dancing to Jaan mein dum and not to Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein khayal aata hai."

gaurav ji why are you blaming the judges..huun...its your own mistake of doing the ''zara hutt ke '' acts ,over and over😕.. their ''bachcha act'' in NB2..was also🤢...and after watching the wild card round i was thinking ke..kis bewakoof ne inhe ye act karne ka kaha tha 😡 ...aur kis stupid ne inhe 'DUM' jaisa dumb song select kya tha.🤢...i think both (song & act) were selected by gaurav ,for being "different" 🤢....he seems to be obsessed with ''zara hutt ke'' things..eg miss N 😉..

now its almost certain that his NB2 journey is over....in a way i am glad....no more practice sessions with his gf 😉....ab saumya hogi ....aur gaurav hoga..aur tanhaii hogi 😆😉

It's about time Gaurav needs to understand that he is a grown man 😭 (to us he is more than that…he just does not know I guess 😭 ….)…. and the way he performed and acted in NB2 with his dance partner is not acceptable to most people 😕 .

He needs to understand that life is all about maintaining a delicate balance. Being different may not be taken as refreshing all the time 😕 …. At times it may mean a reflection of a very disturbed state of mind 😡 . There is a fine balance we have to maintain all the time as we live in a society. And we need our partners in love, life or even in a performance to help us maintain that balance 😊 .

That is why it works very well when we mingle with like minded people for friendship and having a good time only… 😉 .. but …. we should always go for a better half who complements us 😳 …. balance our acts 😛 …. softens our attitude where needed 😉 …. encourage us to excel where we fear 😊 …. offer us a different perspective of loving and sharing 👏 …..

The trusted and committed union between two different type of people (GS jodi is a perfect example 😉 …. ) never suffer boredom as they stay busy exploring each other 👏 .

Let me disagree a little bit, Shanza, so that you and i can balance each other out.
I strongly believe that there are no rules for human relationships. Every relationship figures out its own rules, its own way of existence. Certain patterns may be similar here and there, but relationships in themselves are so nuanced and carry so many feelings, emotions, memories, intimacies, unspoken understandings and misunderstandings, that no generalisation may work for them.
You're saying that we need balance, how one should have a different person for a lifetime relationship whereas similar people should be friends or for fun. This may be true for some relationships, false for others. I've seen compatible people break up, I've seen non compatible people break up. I've seen long marriages where the two people involved and very diffent and equally long marriages where the two people were very similar in outlook and opinion.
So what am i trying to say: It is only the two people within a relationship (whether they be friends, lovers or costars) who know where they stand. All other theories may or may not apply to this particular case.
Any kind of formula fails when it comes to the human heart. After all, dil toh paagal hai!

As far as Gaurav being different is concerned, I like him precisely because he is so different. Most people on tv today are similar, jiska sabse bada proof yeh hai ke they can all replace each other in shows. Whether its one or the other, no difference. But no one else can be Samay Khurana.
Its very easy to follow the crowd. To stand out, to do something different, as Gaurav did in the wild card special, is my kind of thing. I think Gaurav rocks!!!

You are right whynot 😊 ….. people are different and one theory does not suit every one 😛. I was not speaking in general here….. I am biased 😉 … I know that 😉 …. And … all here in this forum knows that too 😉.

As there are many different ways available to address an issue or attain an outcome... An analyst always try to present the best possible analysis... to the sponsors ... to reach the goal.. for the particular situation 😊 …… it does not necessary mean that she will definitely present an unbiased view 😉 .

Believe it or not …… sometimes an analyst is actually hired for a particular job for her known biasness 😉 to get the best out of it 😉 ….. So here in this forum everyone knows my position 😉 …. And trust me I know how my views are taken and will be taken 👏👏 👏 .

My intention was never to preach anything 😆 …. just to have fun with like minded people 👏 👏 👏 .

i know that your opinions are meant in fun... and i have discovered your bias by now Shanaz. 😆 😆 Ye marz bahut jaana pehchana hai. 😛 😛
Maybe its the teacher in me... i can't help responding to such posts even when i know they're meant in fun. I think yeh mera bias hai... i'm used to analysing everything and reacting to everything.
as long as we know and can smile at each other's biases, 'balance rahega!' 😉 😉
yeh show waapas romantic kab hoga 😭 😭

article about narayani gaurav not doing well in wild card in an attempt to be different
Shanaz seeing that as 1 more reason why saumya gaurav should be together... they're differet from each other, so will complement
me being my usual cynically analytical self -- rules don't apply, each relationship diferent
shanaz saying she knows that, just writes these posts for fun, to develop her bias
me too saying ya i know that just can't stop reacting, thats my bias 😉
ended on mutual reconciliation and love
most other people chipped in with opinions hoping saumya gaurav happen
