Heylo fellow KSGians, QHians, KaBhi and AsYa pankhas..
I'm here with a piece of fiction on the lovely couple; my first on the forum. Had been trying too hard to resist myself, but alas! The magic of AsYa refuses to leave me alone.. And here's the end result.. 😊
Also, since we're all flustered with Tanveer's entry and her being a kabab mein haddi in the already mushkil Prem kahani, here's a reason to smile for all fellow spoil-sports.. 😉
Here's why it happened: Asad calling Zoe a misfit, hurt me real bad.. I know, the guy doesn't mean half the things he says to her.. But still..
Couldn't stay miffed with him, for long, for obvious reasons and hence had to vent it out..
I've conceived this one as a Two-Shot.. Posting the first part right now..
The 2nd part will come up only if you think I did justice to the characters and the plot. 😕
Jootis, tomatoes, frozen yoghurt and cheesecakes, are all welcome.. But please read and review..
I need to know if my OS was worth two cents.. 😊

Part 1
Zoya.. Zindagi.. Life..
Yes, that's what she was.. Zoya Farooqui was full of life..
She believed in spreading smiles and happiness wherever she set foot.. And thanks to his lucky stars, she had stepped into his life.
He glanced at her sleeping form and a smile instantly lit up his face as he relived every moment spent with her in the last 6 months.
However, as memories from the past few days flashed in his mind, the smile vanished and was replaced by a frown.
Pain surged through him and his shoulders slumped, not with defeat, but with guilt. Guilt for having hurt her; for having uttered some cruel words in the past.
Yes, he now remembered every bit of the little confession, they'd had in the intoxicated state a couple of weeks back.. And that only added to his guilt.
He tore his eyes away from her with much difficulty and looked around the room.
Every corner of the room reeked of Zoya.
She had been a guest; his Ammi's bechari guest when she'd stepped in 6 months back..
And yet today, she was much more.. to him.. And to his family..
He closed his eyes and rested against his back against the bed, mentally making a note of her worth in their lives.
Rashid's arrest had taken a toll on their family. The mother and son were slowly drifting apart.. And what was worse, was that Asad himself was the cause of his Ammi's distress.
However, Dilshad hadn't failed to prove to him that she was still the woman who had raised two kids single-handedly and was capable enough of facing adversities, head on..
Yet, there were moments when her resolve had weakened, due to constant conflict between the father and son.. And that is when, an angel had stepped in..
Farishta, that's what his mother and sister called her..
Zoya accompanied his mother while she made rounds of lawyer's offices in the city.
They had left no stone unturned to prove Rashid innocent. Zoya had even applied for a bail on behalf of Dilshad, only to have it rejected.
She had stood by Dilshad not out of mere gratitude for having sheltered her, neither because she loved locking horns with Asad and proving him wrong at every opportunity available..
But because, she truly cared for them.. For his family.. And that is when, it had dawned upon him that she was perhaps not immature as he believed her to be..
But what amazed him was she did it all with a smile on her face, never complaining.
Only he knew, she was faking it..
No, her concern and love for his family wasn't fake.. But she was pretending to be strong for their sake.. he had often seen her sitting in the lawn late at nights, lost in thoughts..
Wait! Wasn't that his job? Wasn't that what he had done all these years? Protecting and shielding his family.. And he knew he would do so, until his last breath.
But it was only when they sided with Mr. Rashid Ahmed Khan, his father and the man he despised the most, Asad saw red.
He knew how much Zoya loved engaging in a bickering session with him. It surprised him that she had hardly spoken to him since they'd returned two weeks back.. Merely formal talks had been exchanged and even those had stopped in the last 4 days when he had yelled at her, for no mistake of hers.
Dilshad had fainted due to stress.. And he, being himself had been ready with fingers to point at Zoya.. He had even gone to the extent of dragging her deceased mother into the tirade, yet again.
However, Zoya had left him baffled by not responding to his accusing words.. She hadn't protested.. Hadn't even tried to offer him an explanation. She merely stood there, as he blew off steam over her..
And then when he'd paused, realizing just how cruel he'd been, she had walked away into her room, never looking back even once. And since then, he hadn't seen Zoya Farooqui..
She still lived in the same house as him.. Yet, Zoya was gone..
The girl who had always been his well-wisher, who had cried along with him, when he had crumbled.. The only one who truly understood why he did, what he always did..
His Miss Farooqui was gone..
The girl that remained behind, was just his Ammi's guest and Najma's BFF.
And that is when Asad Ahmed Khan had been left stunned like never before..
His mother wasn't talking to him.. Najma had been exchanging mere pleasantries with him.. Ayaan was mad at him.. And Zoya even refused to be in the same room as him.
Where had he gone wrong? Was punishing the guilty and serving justice to the wronged, so wrong?
Until a few days back, he had been so sure about it, that he'd even gone against his own mother on the issue..
But now.. Was he sure he was doing the right thing? Not really?
And then, there was also Tanveer..
His ex-neighbour and only childhood friend.. She had walked into his life just when he had needed a friend and a confidante.
He had met her the day, he had almost lost his Zoya for the second time..
Whoa! HIS Zoya? Where did that come from?
He shrugged the thought away..
And staying true to her words, his old friend had stood beside him as he fought the case against his father.
The fact that Tanveer, herself was a law student helped the case immensely. They had both often had discussions regarding how Mr. Rashid Ahmed Khan would serve the rest of his life behind bars.. Paying for what he'd done..
And now as he sat on the carpet in the dark room watching over her, he realised just how mistaken he had been..
*Flashback*
This evening, he had walked in on Dilshad and Tanveer arguing. He stood silently at the doorstep and watched the women in his life fight for what they thought was right.
He knew, Tanveer was right in her stand. Mr. Rashid Khan had wronged them, all their life. His Ammi had lived with pain and betrayal, while he had rejoiced with his family..
Him and Najma had been deprived of their father's love and care, while his other children had basked in the shadows of his love.
Yet, come what may, he wasn't going to be a bystander when someone spoke to his Ammi in that tone.. Not even his old friend.
He had just lifted his foot forward when he heard Tanveer mention Zoya.
His Zoya.. and he froze.
'Yeh sab inn mohtarma ka kiya karaya hai.. Aunty, inhone aapki family ko do hisson mein baant diya hai..
Aapko dikhayi nahi deta, ya aap dekhna nahi chaahti ki yeh ladki aapke ghar ko todna chahti hain..
Ghar kya hota hai, family kya hoti hai, inhe iska ilm bhi nahi hai.. Aur maaf kijiyega, hoga bhi kaise.. Inke parents...'
And then his head shot up upon hearing Najma's sob and Dilshad's gasp..
Zoya had held Tanveer's arm and spun her around to face her.. He considered stepping in, but realised she didn't need him.
Another look at her, and he knew Miss Farooqui was back.
Her eyes held fury, like he'd never witnessed before.
'Bol chuki aap? Ab meri baat suniye.. Haan nahi hain, mere parents..
Meri Ammi mujhe chodkar chali gayi aur mere Abbu kahan hain, main nahi jaanti..
Bachpan se hi akeli rahi hoon.. Nahi jaanti thi main, ki family kya hoti hai.. Family ka pyaar kya hota hai..'
He saw Zoya's eyes scan the house and end on the spot where Dilshad and Najma stood with red eyes. The lone tear trickling down her eye jabbed him in the stomach..
"Lekin ab jaanti hoon.. I know what family means.. Aur Ammi ko khone ka gham kya hota hai, yeh mujhse behtar koi nahi jaan sakta..
Isliye.. Har roz dua karti hoon, ki Mr. Khan iss dard se kabhi na guzre.."
His head snapped up at that and he recollected his harsh words to her when Dilshad had been shot..
'Main Phoophi aur unke beech ki dooriyon ko mitaane ki koshish kar rahi hoon..
Isliye, nahi kyunki main unke ghar ke hisse karna chahti hoon..
But because, I wish ki iss ghar par aur inn logon ki khushiyon par kabhi koi aanch na aaye.. I want to see them happy, always.."
Zoya spun around leaning against the dinner table and Asad saw her flick away fresh tears that were falling on her cheeks..
He clenched his eyes shut and balled his fists.. The pain in his chest was getting unbearable.. He had to make a move, now..
And just when he thought, Zoya had lost and fallen; she turned around, not disappointing him.
He saw her point a finger at Tanveer, "Waise, agar main yahi baat aapse karoon toh?"
The entire Khan family and their new guest looked at her with a blend of shock and confusion on their faces.
Zoya took a couple of long strides and stood opposite Tanveer, clutching her iPad in her palm.
Asad saw Tanveer's gaze waver a bit, under Zoya's firm stares.. And then the voice recording froze his senses..
'Haan.. Main bol rahi hoon.. Teer bilkul sahi nishaane par laga hai..
Asad aur unki Ammi ki beech ki khataas ka ab humein poora fayda uthana hoga, humara maqsad poora karne ke liye..
Yaani, ek teer aur do nishaan.. Isse na sirf, Dilshad akeli pad jayengi, lekin main bhi Asad ke aur kareeb aa sakungi..
Aur phir kya hai, aapka kaam aur aasan ho jayega.. Dilshad ko apne raaste se kaise hatana hai, yeh aapse behtar aur kaun jaan sakta hai?'
Her evil laugh echoed through the silent living room as the occupants of the house stood bewildered.
'Ek baar Dilshad ka kaam tamaam phir mujhe Mrs. Asad Ahmed Khan banne se koi nahi rok sakta..
Kyunki unke liye, toh main perfect life partner hoon na.. Seedhi-saadhi, traditional ladki, jo humesha unki haan mein haan milati hai.. Unki kahi har baat maanti hai..
Bass ek baar, humara nikaah ho jaaye, phir dekhna..
Asad Ahmed Khan ko sadak par na le aayi, toh mera naam bhi Tanveer nahi..
Ek ek paayi ke liye, usse aapka mohtaaj bana doongi.. Uski akad aur guroor ko mitti mein mila doongi..
Aur tab jaakar, aapka badla poora hoga aur hum dono apne apne hisse ki property aur paise lekar aish-o-aaram se baaki zindagi kaat lenge.."
Asad balled his fists and stepped a bit closer to where the women stood. And then they heard Zoya's name being mentioned.
"Kaun, Zoya? Yes, hum jaante hain, ki woh humare iss khel ko bigaad sakti hain.. Aap unki chinta mat kijiye..
Unka kya karna hai, yeh hum acche se jaante hain..
Bohot jald, yeh mehmaan iss ghar se rukhsat ho jayengi.. Aur hum jeet ke ek kadam nazdeek aa jayenge..
Achha, main aapse baad mein baat karti hoon.. Kahin kissi ko shaq na ho jaaye.. Allah Haafiz, Khala.."
