They've taken drinks with South Africa coasting towards another win, their 7th in a row
Congratulations to SA for their win against Zimbabwe.
South Africa won by 5 wkts
Anjan: "SA is the team to beat in this tournament."
They gave potm to raza
Why they didn't give it to Bennett in last match?
South Africa has been the team to beat in this World Cup and they've advanced to yet another semi-final. Their last semis in a WC in Kolkata didn't go as planned, but they'll back themselves to return to Ahmedabad for next Sunday's final. Standing against them is their Group D opponent - New Zealand - the league match was one-sided, you can trust Santner's men to be up for a scrap in Kolkata. Let's come back to this match now. The chase didn't start well with both Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram falling cheaply, but that gave the middle order time to bat for a few overs. Ryan Rickelton was hit on his head, but he followed it up with a succession of sixes before falling for 31. Dewald Brevis attacked the Zimbabwe bowlers with an attacking 19-ball 42, David Miller contributed 22, and the 6th wicket pair of Tristan Stubbs and George Linde ensured no late hiccups. Zimbabwe improved as the Super Eights progressed; they were trounced by the West Indies and beaten by India, but they fought hard, led by skipper Sikandar Raza. 73 with the bat and 3 wickets with the ball: the all-rounder saved his best for the last. Plenty of support for them in the stands and they walk around Arun Jaitley Stadium as they thank their supporters.
He made quick runs and most runs for team and gave them respectable score and took 3 wkts hence he got potm
Sikandar Raza | Player of the Match - My immediate reflection is that I shouldn't be here. I've never got a man of the match for losing the game, but I just think I can hold my head high. I think the way the boys have played the whole tournament, I know we took a bit of beating in the previous two games, but I think with each beating came a valuable lesson. And if you can see Zimbabwe, I think we have improved with every game that we have played. At least now we've got a taste of what it takes and what it needs to be done for us to be a mid-table team in the top 6, top 7. We take these valuable lessons, go home, and hopefully come back stronger and better. To be honest with you, I thought 180 would be par on that wicket because I thought it was slightly on the skiddy, lower side of the wicket. So I thought the square side would be harder to hit. So I thought, listen, boys, if we can just get somehow 170, 175, I think it's a very good total on this wicket. And true to that, I think had we got to that, I think it would have been a very interesting game. Certainly very important, but without even striking, my immediate reaction was, we've only got two seamers. If there's one guy who needs to raise his hand, it has to be the captain. So I said, boys, I'll open the bowling with the two seamers and hopefully so that we can have a lot of their overs or some of their overs in the middle and at depth as well. But it came really nice, ended up bowling three in the powerplay. But without the wickets or the runs, the fact that if the leader stands up and raises his hand, I think it gives a lot of confidence to the team. And I think we needed to show it today.
