it was a very interesting and much needed case for Arjun and Priya..

Ahh...so glad you noticed Chotu's efforts, poor guy gets sidelined too many times so thought I should help him out, watch for him again in the next update.

Leena stole the designs but she wasn't behind Nisha's kidnapping she just wanted the blame for the stolen design to fall on Nisha so she could get her out of Rohan's life. She was definitely very stupid because she did not know what kind of people she is dealing with and this stupidity ended up costing her everything. As for how a one sister can do to another remember they are stepsisters not real sisters so Leena never though of Nisha as a sister.

Yes he really does care and regardless of what he thinks she was to be blamed for his feeling for her has never been a lie so it was inevitable for his feelings to resurface again.

Oh he is going to do much more in the next update, like I said I know I won't disappoint, I hope.😆

Yep I do understand and believe me I am itching to pen down the whole story in one go but I just can't carve enough time from everything else to do this. I tried getting ahead with the updates but something always comes in the way.

Yes, Arjun is definitely connecting the dot, as a matter of fact he has put the whole puzzle together in his mind but he needs solid proof to make his heart and head believe what is staring at him right in front of his eyes, which will be the next step of course.

He will get to bottom of how things happened in the past but not exactly what happened to her that will come later.

You are in for a treat for the next update.

Hey everyone, hope everyone is well.

Part 16

Sameer came towards him just as he opened the door to the SUV. "Raute we will meet you at the hospital after I make sure everything is under control here." Arjun nodded his acknowledgement then got in the SUV to drive Priya to the hospital.

Arjun got in the SUV to take his seat then glanced at Priya. She had her eyes closed and her read was resting against the headrest. Her mouth was pinched as if she was trying to control the pain. "Priya, seat belt," He reminded her gently.

Priya heard the driver's side door slam but didn't open her eyes. The pain in her arm was dreadful and thought of going to the hospital was causing her anxiety. The thought of the doctors putting her under anesthesia was giving her nightmares already. The thought of losing control like she had when Vikram drugged her was not sitting well with her but she has no choice left now. She hoped that Swati is able to stitch her arm without any major surgery.

She had been confident when she said she was fine but the rush of adrenaline had decreased the impact of pain from the bullet but now that she was coming down from the high she was feeling the pain increasing.

Priya opened her eyes when she heard Arjun remind her about the seatbelt; Priya reached for the seat belt with her left hand to pull it around but the pain, the anxiety of going to the hospital and the man sitting next her was causing her hands to tremble slightly and she couldn't click the seatbelt in place.

Arjun saw her struggle with the belt so he removed her hand from the seatbelt gently and clicked the belt in place. He glanced at her face to make sure she was okay and immediately got lost in her hazel eyes. He could see the uncertainty, pain and another emotion he was unable to identify, in her eyes clearly. For the moment he forgot everything but the eyes that had mesmerized him from the moment he had seen them. The eyes that had always managed to pull him towards her, the eyes that had evoked an emotion called love in him for the first time.

He moved back when he heard her inhale sharply, he mumbled out a quick sorry then turned to start the SUV. He gripped the gear tightly to get his emotions under control. His heart and mind were being bombarded with unanswered questions that he knew the answers to but was unable to acknowledge them to himself until he confirmed all the facts and now all his feeling of past were coming to surface too. He felt as if his whole world was turning upside down; he was unable to decide what the truth is, and what a lie is.

His heart and mind were unwilling to accept that he, Arjun Raute, could have been so wrong about something. He could not believe that the thing he took pride in, always, would fail him in the most important part of his life. He was beginning to think and believe that his instincts had failed him at most crucial moment because he had been smarting from an unrequited love.

Priya glanced at Arjun from the corner of her eyes and as usual she was unable to completely figure out what he was thinking. His tight grip and the way his jaw clenched from time to time gave away his state of mind though. She wondered what was troubling him.

When he had moved close to her to help with the seatbelt Priya had frozen in place for few seconds then she had gotten whiff of his musky cologne and aftershave and immediately forgot to be scared of another person being so close. She wondered if her fear was not as big as it usually is because it was Arjun who was so close to him. She has yet to figure out what it was about him that had made her put everything on line for him, even when he had belonged to someone else. Why had no other man ever been able to match Arjun Raute? Why is it that he is the one man who still gave her hope?

Priya shook of her reflective thoughts as he parked the SUV in front of the hospital. She stepped out of the SUV before he got around to her side of the car. They walked into the hospital side by side without saying anything to each other.

Swati was just coming out of her office when she saw Priya walking towards her but she was surprised to see Arjun with her also. She had thought Sam would accompany Priya but this was a new development she hadn't been aware of until now.

Priya sighed when she saw Swati standing outside her office with her arms across her chest, her eyes narrowed on her. Priya tried to smile to sooth her but she knew Swati was upset, "Don't start lecturing, I didn't step in front of that bullet on purpose."

Swati didn't respond just pinched her mouth in disapproval. She turned and escorted Priya and Arjun towards the clinical area. Once they were inside the treatment room, Priya sat on the treatment table while Swati gathered equipment to stitch her arm.

Arjun stood a little away from the treatment table, crossed his arms across his chest and leaned against the counter. He glanced at Priya but she was looking at Swati anxiously and biting her lower lip worriedly. Her hand was clenched around the table tightly.

Swati placed everything on a table near her then glanced at Priya and sighed. She could tell that Priya was about to go into panic if she didn't do something quick. "I didn't say you stepped in front of the bullet purposely but you could have picked another day to get shot Priya."

Priya scowled at Swati, "How was I supposed to know I was going to get shot on the day you have romantic plans for yourself and Sam?" She knew what Swati was trying to do but also not only her injury, the man standing few feet away watching them intently was adding to her anxiety. The whole hospital environment was bombarding her with the memories of the past. It was reminding her of what she had lost almost three years ago.

Swati smiled, "And what plans they were too." She had managed to divert Priya's attention for a moment but now she is wondering how she is going to stitch up her arm so that Priya only feels minimum pain.

Swati thought over it for a moment then decided to plunge ahead and broach the subject. "Priya may be you should consider going under anesthesia while I stitch your arm, this is going to cause a lot of pain."

"No!" Priya shook her head adamantly, "You know the deal, no anesthesia. Just apply local anesthesia, I will be fine."

Swati saw Arjun's gaze sharpen as he listened to her and Priya talk, she quickly placed her hand on Priya's right hand to calm her down. "Okay I will use local only," She said in reassurance.

Priya bit the inside of her lip then took a deep breath to make herself relax. She winced when she felt the sharp injection needle prick her arm as Swati injected the local anesthesia in her arm.

Arjun stepped next to Priya when he saw her wince in pain; he hesitated then reached for her left hand. He held it tighter when she tried to pull it back. He turned her hand to place his hand in her palm then stroked her wrist with other hand. "Relax, and just squeeze my hand when the pain gets unbearable." He said softly.

He glanced to Swati when she started getting ready to place the stitches in Priya's arm then looked down at his and Priya's hand. As his thumb stroked her wrist his sharp gaze landed on something colorful under the thick band of her wristwatch.

Shocked is a mild word compared to what she had felt when he came over and took her hand in his to sooth her but Priya couldn't describe how she had felt when he did this. When he started stroking her wrist she had felt as if her heart would leap out of her chest with its loud thumping. She started to gradually relax as his thumb continued to stroke her wrist. Priya closed her eyes and got lost in the sensations his touch was causing in her body and forgot that her best friend is using a sharp needle to stitch her arm on the other side.

Arjun glanced up at Priya and his expression softened when he saw that her eyes were closed and she was completely relaxed. He looked down again and unfastened her wristwatch gently to look at what was hidden under her watch, he was sure he knew what it is but he wanted to take a closer look.

His gaze sharpened when he saw the tattoo of Lotus and Gladiolus, the flowers of hope and strength. He traced the tattoo as he thought about the meanings of the two flowers and why Priya had felt the need to have this two particular flowers tattooed on her wrist. He fastened her watch back on her wrist then looked up at her. Her eyes were now open but her expression was completely blank yet her pulse increased the moment he met her eyes. "What are you scared of Priya?" He asked silently.

Priya had been aware of what Arjun was doing the moment he unfastened her watch. She had waited for him to start questioning her but she was relieved when he strapped the watch back on her wrist then placed her hand on her thigh before moving back a little.

Swati had just finished wrapping Priya's arm when she saw Arjun finished fastening Priya's watch. She glanced at Priya then Arjun but couldn't tell what either was thinking at that moment but the tension between the two was very obvious. She decided to lighten the situation a bit.

"There, all done," she said as she stepped back a little. "I still have enough time to run home and continue with my romantic dinner plans." She said as she grinned at the two serious people in front of her.

Priya jumped down from the table and gave her friend a teasing smile. "So you are saying get out of here so we can send the love of your life home to you and your romantic dinner?" Priya asked.

Swati felt her cheek turn red when Priya teased her about sending Sam to her house quickly but couldn't stop grinning either. It felt good to be linked with Sam again and she and Sam did have plans for the evening whenever he could make it to her place.

Swati pulled out the tablets from her pocket and placed them in Priya's hand, "Take these if the pain gets too unbearable and we will remove the stitches in about a week or so."

Priya placed the tablets in her pocket without saying anything then turned to silent Arjun. "Shall we go?"

He nodded then turned to Swati, "Thanks, is she okay to be alone tonight?"

Swati raised an eyebrow as she glanced at Priya who shook her head discreetly and glared at Swati. "No she will be fine otherwise I would have made her stay in the hospital overnight. The pain will ware off gradually and she has the pain pills if she needs them."

Arjun nodded, "Okay thanks." He turned to open the door then waited for Priya to say her goodbyes.

The drive to the ETF was silent as the drive to the hospital but neither of the occupants could help but sneak a glance at each other at times.

Arjun parked the SUV in front of ETF office but didn't get out immediately. He turned to Priya, "I will drive you home once we talk to Rathore."

Priya glanced at him and nodded her head in agreement. She didn't feel like taking stand today, her arm was beginning to ache really badly. She got out of the SUV and followed him up to the ETF office.

They had just reached the conference room when Sameer, Chotu and Shree stepped out from the office. Sameer stopped when he saw Arjun and Priya, "Priya how are you feeling?" He asked as stepped closer to her to pat her arm.

Priya gave him a tired smile, "I am fine Sam, don't worry."

Sameer could tell her arm was paining her a lot but she was trying to hide it. "Anyway, we are all done here; I will drop you at home."

Arjun hesitated but didn't say anything; he didn't want to force Priya to go with him if she didn't want to.

Priya glanced at Arjun then made a quick decision, "Its okay Sam, Arjun will drop me. Besides you have a romantic dinner waiting for you, I don't want to delay you more that I already have." She said with a tongue in the cheek.

Sameer just shook his head but couldn't help the smile that formed on his lips when he thought about the night ahead.

Chotu and Shree also stepped forward then Shree extended his hand to offer Priya her phone. "Here is your phone Priya, I have added more tracking futures to it for now; until we decide what to do with the internal tracking device this will help us keep track of you at all times. Just makes sure its charged at all times."

Priya blinked her eyes as she took her phone from Shree. She was amazed by the friendliness of the two men and was thankful that they accepted her as a team member so quickly.

Chotu cleared his throat and handed her a pen, "If the phone fails this pen also has a tiny tracking device to help us track you."

Priya took the pen and smiled, "Thanks guys," She chuckled, "At this rate it is going to be hard for any of you to lose me."

Sameer smiled at her gently, "That is the point right?"

Arjun watched the whole interaction quietly, for the first time he felt like an outsider. It had taken him and Sameer months to win Priya's friendship but Chotu and Shree had no problem winning her over and he wondered why that was. He shook off his thoughts and stepped forward.

"Priya I will meet you downstairs, I have to get something from my office." He nodded once towards the other three men then turned and walked towards his office.

All four watched as Arjun walked towards his office with varying expressions, then turned and walked towards the exit.

Sameer, Priya, Chotu and Shree had just stepped outside when they saw Rohan Raina get out of his car to move towards the ETF office in a rush.

Sameer stopped him, "Mr. Raina, what are you doing here?"

Priya observed Rohan closely and realized that the truth of his fianc had taken a big toll on him. He looked like he had aged few years just in the matter of hours. She also wanted to know his reason for showing up at the ETF office.

Rohan looked down in shame then spoke softly. "I wanted to talk to Leena just one time please."

Sameer's expression hardened at the mention of his fianc but Priya placed her hand on his arm before he started blasting Rohan. "Sameer let him see her." Sameer nodded once. Priya turned back towards Rohan.

"Mr. Raina I can understand what your feeling and I know you are angry with Leena and hurt also because you gave hundred percent of yourself to her and your relationship but try to listen to her with open mind and try to understand the reasons for what she did." Priya said gently.

Rohan nodded once to let her know he understood what she was trying to say. "And try to forgive her for what she did, remember her intentions were to just get Nisha out of her way not kidnap or hurt her. I know that what she did is unforgiveable but if not for her then forgive her for Nisha's sake."

If Priya would have turned and looked behind her at that moment she would have seen the amazement and awe clearly written on the face of the man standing behind her.
