The sun was rising. Through the window ledge, sunlight rays sneaked into Anandi's bedroom. The curtain frills flew in the early morning breeze and tickled her face. Alarm clock was buzzing for the 5th time after 4 snoozes. Anandi opened her eyes to find sunlight blinding her vision. She stopped the alarm and took to check the time, it was 6.30 a.m.
She got out of the bed, went to take bath. After a few minutes Anandi came out of the bathroom with towel wrapped around her. She got dressed in a red Kurta and blue jeans and came in front of dressing table to do her hair and makeup. She saw a tea cup on the nearby table kept by her mother Bhago. Her room was painted in green,, her favourite color. Shah rukh and Sachin were smiling on her bedroom wall.
A short, skinny girl with a pretty face and blue eyes stood there smiling at herself from the dressing mirror. Anandi was a 23 year old girl, only daughter of Khajan and Bhago. They lived in Mumbai. Anandi was working in Shekars textiles & industries Ltd. Alok Shekar was the M.D, and Anandi was his P.A.
Anandi was a fun loving, sweet, innocent girl.
She came out of her room to find her father sitting in the living room hidden behind the newspaper. Her mother was cooking in the kitchen.
" Good morning Papa." She wished Khajan.
" Good morning Anandi" he wished his daughter.
" Good morning Laado" Bhago said.
" Morning Ma" , " Ma, is breakfast ready? I need to get to office early today. My new boss is going to take over from today" Anandi informed her parents.
" oh, I see. What happened to Alokji?" Khajan asked.
" He is fine, but he has some health complications. So the doctor has advised him rest for a couple of months. So his son is taking over his company now." Anandi said.
" Laado, Asha called when you were getting ready. She asked whether you can pick her up on the way to your office." Bhago said.
" Ok ma. I'll pick her up on the way". She finished her breakfast and left in her scooter to Asha's house.
Asha was waiting outside her house. When Anandi came she asked Anandi to take her to the nearby temple first, as it was an auspicious day. So, they left to the temple.
Place: Juhu beach
The waves were washing the shore giving the sand a darker shade and a wet look. Crabs were running on it making trails of its thin legs. There came Shivraj Shekar jogging through the sea shore. The waves and tides were dancing as if trying to drown the tall, lean figure into them. His shoe stepping on the sand making a long series of footprints competing with the crabs.
His hair dangling on his forehead, where sweat stood like dew drops on his handsome face. He was a fitness freak , never missed his daily jog. His T.shirt sticking on to his well built physique.
After one hour of jogging, he took his bike and drove back home.
Shiv is the only son of Alok and Ira Shekar. He had completed his Masters in business management in London. He has returned to India to take over his family business after his father.
He reached his residence , and freshened up. He got dressed in a black formal suit. He was a perfectionist and a strict person when it comes to his profession. But otherwise he was man with an heart of gold. He would go to any length to help people in need.
He came down. Alok wished his son on his first day to work. Ira served him breakfast and coffee.
" Shiv, today is your first day, so make a good impression on the employees. Don't behave stiff and strict. They should be free to talk to you, otherwise employees will have trouble in adjusting with you. And please smile often and don't frighten them on the first day itself." Alok gave some advices to run his company and its employees.
" Yeah Shiv. Listen to him, as if you don't know anything." Ira teased her husband.
Shiv smiled at his parents tiff, which was a routine in their household. But he appreciated it all the same as he know very well that they care for each other a lot. He took his parent's blessings and left his house.
In the next half an hour, he started to his office in his Octavia. He proceeded towards the temple first. Shiv believed in god, so he wanted to take god's blessings.
Asha and Anandi also reached the same temple. They parked the scooter and climbed the steps towards the temple. Shiv was just behind them when they stood in the line to take the Aarti and Prashad. After praying Anandi turned to ring the temple bell, but she couldn't reach it. She jumped to reach the bell, but lost control as it was higher and dropped down. She fell backwards dashing someone who stood behind her. It was shiv.
. Asha called " Anandi, be careful".
Anandi was about to fall when Shiv stopped her from falling, holding her waist.
Anandi turned red " sorry," she mumbled to Shiv embarrassingly.
" Be careful" he told in a curt voice. He released her. Anandi stood erect and left with Asha who was giggling at her friend.
Together they reached their office .They met their colleagues who were all standing near the entrance, looking serious with flower bouquets in hand to welcome their new boss. Anandi and Asha joined them.
Shiv got out of the car, took a quick glance at his office campus. After that he took the lift and got down in his office floor, saw a group of employees standing there smilingly. Anandi and Asha looked at him. Anandi blinked and saw Asha. Asha giggled at her saying, " See, you've fell down on our new boss" .
Anandi was nervous now. " he seems as if he'll never smile. Oh dear, our old boss was very friendly. Don't know how he will be ?" She gestured towards Shiv.
Without smiling Shiv took the bouquets from his employees and said " Thank you all. There is no need for all this." " I give more importance to work rather than speech. I believe on action. So hope you all understand this first. And hope we will all share a good working relationship. And thank you all."
He was about to go to his cabin, when he saw Anandi. Anandi gave him a weak smile.
Without showing any sign of recognition at Anandi, he stepped into his cabin.
Anandi and the other employees went to their respective cubes and started their office work.
