OK, so i mentioned this in a couple of threads but i was extremely curious to know the perspective of others, so thought it fit to create a new topic..Why are so many members livid at Asad? I understood the outrage when Asad slapped Zoya and taunted her about her mom..But here, i really don see why the guy is inviting so much criticism..I feel the 'misfit' comment has been misconstrued by a majority of the members.I was defo hurt by that comment and the one about Zoya not having parents but can you really hold it against him? For once the guy was honest and extremely forthcoming about his innermost feelings..It would have been extremely unrealistic to see Asad gushing about Zoya and heaping praises on her at this stage..When a person is intoxicated, his subconscious feelings come to the fore and thats precisely what they showed..Asad loves Zoya despite everything he believes in and stands for..His ideologies are still the same but his heart compels him to make an exception for Zoya..The dialogues yesterday reflected this struggle brilliantly..He is damaged, psychologically scarred due his traumatic childhood, has trust issues, is regressive due to his preconceived notions and is stuck up..Yet the progress in his character as far as Zoya is concerned is for all to see..Isn't it a lil unfair to expect him to change overnight?
Now coming to today's epi, i for one found Asad's reaction to be very mellow..Asad trusted Zoya, went out of his way to help her, bore all her tantrums and then finds out he was conned all along.. The guy had every reason to be angry..Given how short-tempered and emotionally volatile he is, you'd expect him to explode..But he actually surprises you with his behavior..He was annoyed but din manhandle Zoya or say nasty things to her like he usually does..Now isn't this progress?Am surprised people din notice this change and actually feel he doesn't deserve Zoya..Regarding the hug, yes i hated it but i feel its wrong to judge Asad based on this..We don really know the bond the two of them shared and to top it he had no clue Zoya was around..Infact, in the precap, he offers an explanation, apologises to her and even lets her know that he was worried..This is defo not something Asad would normally do and yet he makes another exception for Zoya..Instead of being appreciated, why is the guy drawing so much flak?😕
About the title, is it just me or does anyone else find a similarity btw Darcy and Asad's confession? Darcy confessed to Lizzy about how he struggled for long to repress his feelings for her, expressed his disgust about the inferiority of her connections and economic condition, lack of propriety displayed by her family etc. and yet how his love overpowered every other feeling..It was not really the most endearing proposal but what was refreshing was that it was brutally honest..I know Asad is not there yet and its unfair to compare an epic character like Darcy with anyone but i did find some similarity..Asad indirectly confessed to his inner struggles and how he couldn't stop himself from liking her despite the fact that she was the anti-thesis of his definition of perfection..Now the only difference is Elizebeth lashed out and taught Darcy a lesson for his life but Zoya was too intoxicated to react😆
So guys, am really curious to know why Asad is being criticised so much..I for one see tremendous character growth which needs to be appreciated..Opposing POVs are most welcome😊

Okay so I totally agree with you.
I don't see why being called a misfit is a big deal. He's done and said worse. I was expecting him to explode but he didn't. I mean - he's actually very stable at this point. If I was him - I would have exploded. To be betrayed by someone he trusts (even if he doesn't admit it) would be horrible. Also, he knew he had to try to get to the court on time - maybe that's another reason why he was mellow. Or maybe (doubtful) he understood why she did what she did. Now, about him gushing over Zoya - totally unrealistic, like you said! The guy's a sealed book. It's hard for him to open up and realize his own feelings - let alone someone else's.

I have noticed the connection between Darcy and Asad. And the thing is that a lot of love stories are inspired from Jane Austen. Haha - I love that you mentioned that Elizabeth taught him a lesson! I think that Zoya might teach him that same lesson just in a different way. Or maybe her absence will teach him that. Or her pulling away.

Anyway! I loved your post! And your analysis! :D

forgive me for my ignorance towards your entire write up but one statement hit me like silver bullet to a werewolf:

Are you comparing Asad Ahmed Khan of 'QUBOOL HAI' to Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE?

Seriously.

I am concerned for you.

May I ask why?
Are they incomparable?

I mean no malice - just wondering.

Totally rocking post and so many good points...

And yup i agree...though i can't believe that some people are still not over the slap thing yet..jheeze...!! take a chill pill..😲
And as for his 'unusual' confession...that's what made it so brillian...it was totally in character...he's not fully in love with her therefore he is still at that complex stage where he's fighting with his own feelings..i'm actually glad that they showed that...eventually his actual love confession will be so much more believable and mesmerising to watch...😳
I don't get why some people are complaining at all..i mean there is just no pleasing some...either they're asking for a change in asad towards zoya and when we get that..they're not happy with that either...
The Mr. Darcy question is spot on...i thought i was the only one who noticed that yesterday...lol...hope the creatives keep the flow of the character running as smoothly as it is right now...Mr. Darcy's character is not one to be messed with..oops..i meant Asad..😉😆...lol...

LOL...yes indeed...why..?? do you see no resemblance at all..?? especially in the confession yesterday...??
Asad is just as protective of his sister and mum as Mr. Darcy was of his little sister...he has just the same strict ideologies and he is a man of great power and wisdom...

This is not where the comparison ends but i think it's enough of a starting point...😊

Why are you concerned, i think the post is actually quite a good comparison.
Off course no one is saying that AAK character is as wonderfully etched or created like Mr Darcy but there are similarities, and let us not forget that since the creation of both Lizzie and Mr Darcy and the whole pride vs prejudice, tradition vs modernity has been rehashed a million times over by film makers, writers and producers who have been inspired by the works of Jane Austen.

So no I don't think there is any concern for the person who posted this topic, if anything this is something that is often brought up and discussed in secondary school level English classes about how modern pieces of work are often inspired by literary classics.

AAK is not Mr Darcy but he is a hybrid version to a certain extent.

👏👏

Thank you for making this post! It's almost like the audience didn't even look at the conversation in context. Asad was realistic, honest and confused. The warring heart and mind is not an easy situation to be in. You are right about the Darcy-Asad comparison. Fitz was highly prejudice of Liz in the beginning- going as far as to dismiss her as "not pretty enough to tempt me" and then he fell crazily and irrevocably in love with her. (Darcy=Perfect 😃). Asad's been more than a little prejudiced and he has definitely done things to deserve flak but THIS is not one of them! I see this as character growth and fun times to come!!

Hey VFT,

So there are definitely some similarities with Asad's character and Darcy's early behaviour. Darcy was never abusive but he had preconceived notions and loft expectations of how people should be/behave just like Asad...so I get the comparison. I don't think anyone is saying that Asad is the perfect romantic hero that Darcy was/is...there are very few characters who can be. And the characters that are, are characters that have been written that period ala Thornton, Rochester et al
