I agree with you. We cant expect him to change overnight. I also expected him to be more angry.

This thread is very interesting. I never have understood this stance on things including literature. Toh kya ho Gaya if a comparison is made? It's not apples and oranges. It might be a comparison between a bada juicy orange and a little shriveled orange but they are oranges nonetheless.

Blasphemy? Did I just ruin the finesse, nuances and poignancy of literature/writers/their characters? Am I going to be judged as being devoid of sophistication?

Jojo I for one can never judge you- You speak your heart and are totally indifferent to many things critics zoom in on a little too much- Thats what makes you unique!

Yes, the concept of thinking that Zoya is a misfit inspite of having feelings for her does have similarities with Darcy's confession... but this wasn't exactly a confession. Since both Asad and Zoya were bhaang-intoxicated and Asad just happens to blurt out what he feels. He probably doesn't and will never remember it and I don't think he would have even admitted this if it wasn't for the bhaang. On the other hand, Darcy outrightly tells Elizabeth what he feels with no pretenses or trying to hide his feelings. He was quite straightforward.

@ rr: I've liked almost each post in this thread- I'm so glad you made it:- not because of the darcy comparison but..
because it triggered a list of post both fun & interesting. I can finally look at an I-F post page with out imagining I-F members pulling each others hair out over a post triggering different views! I love how flexible you have been most of all! *respect 👍🏼

P.s. the Austen lover in me feels glad to see you agree that comparing austen with QH script writed & comparing darcy to 'World of telly soap actors' is disturbing!

@ RC & Di10; you guys crack me up.
Crap RC now I feel I comitted a crime comparing Darcy (even in his shallowest form) to ASR given your sentiments on sobti
@Miss humpty dumpty: I'll give your paper if you can get Gul to make Asad display sence & Zoya self respect! 😃

Why cant we see such discussions on most QH posts ...maybe one day 🤔
