Amrita’s love for Hindi literature

"This is my first film as a solo heroine and my fourth with Shahid. It is also a Barjatya production. Moreover, it is my first love story in the conventional boy-meets-girl sense. Every new actress is normally launched in a proper love saga. I have done several films; and now finally I have my own love story to talk about."

In Vivah, Amrita plays a small-town girl called Poonam. Hyped as 'a journey from engagement to marriage', the film is all about falling in love. "Obviously, this love story has Barjatya's distinct touch," says Amrita.
The film enabled the actress to brush up on her Hindi in a big way. "My character is an ardent reader and is fond of browsing through renowned Hindi literary greats. So obviously, she speaks proper Hindi too.

Many feel that the Shahid-Amrita jodi looks best on screen, including Shahid's beau, Kareena Kapoor. Says Amrita, "I know about it and I really admire Kareena. It shows that she is such a secure, mature person. I have always found Kareena to be very cordial. In fact, even when I did not know her personally, she would always come and greet me whenever we would be together at a party. There was never any element of awkwardness," says Amrita, who will next be seen in E Niwas film, My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves.
