Diya Aur Baati Hum, is about Sandhya's struggle,

who dreams to become an IPS officer. She dreams to

break the boundaries of her narrow confined existence

of middle class values. The story is also about Sooraj,

who is a sweet talker and a self made man. Sooraj runs a

sweet shop near his house which is famous.

Sooraj and Sandhya get married. Sandhya will not be

able to finish her graduation. Soon she is part of the family

she does not even know. This story is about Sandhya's struggle

to fulfill her dream and a journey where she finds help

from the most unlikely quarter - a lover who can make it possible.

This is the synopsis of DABH.

While telling the story of Sandhaya's struggle some lessons for

mass education has been included which are really praiseworthy.

The first one is our obsessive love for male children.

In twenty first century, we are not supposed to have that

obsession. But it is still very much there.

Next is, ladies activities are to be confined within the four walls

of the household.

I hope, Sandhaya will prove it to be unjustified.

The most important one is cheating people in the name of

religion or religion related things by fake sadhus, tantricks etc.

We have already seen some of these from the fake baba story.

Some people cheat not so educated people with tricks, hypnotism etc.

DABH has pointed about these things to people who think that all

sufferings and mishaps are created by enraged God or evil souls.

I can recall of an organization, named " UTSYA MANUSH"

in Jadavpur area of Kolkata. That organization used to held

discussions , seminars and demonstration of those tricks publicly,

for mass education.

Hat's of to the producers to utilize such a great platform for mass education.

Great post...DABH is not about entertainment only!

Vidya Balan would say ''DABH runs so well for three reasons- SurYa, Entertainment and Social messages''😃
Proud to be a DABHian.

And that song...Ekla cholo re...Amar khub priyo ekta Robindro Sangeet!
Well, that's obvious in case of every Bengali I guess!😊

First off, Nice thought provoking post AK uncle.⭐️.

I'm kinda person who hook-up to any show/thing if I learn something from it o/w won't watch/follow any show just for entertainment purpose..

Biggest lesson I learned from DABH is "Not to give-up dream/hope no matter how tough path is to pursue it.".

Even during dragging episodes time I stayed positive. Actually I took it as a challenge - how can we stay positive when we're surrounded by dark clouds. It's scientifically proved - If we stay positive then it helps us to take better decisions in the life..

From Fake Swamiji track I'd say:- Let us thus let go of our fears, of blind imitation and conformance, and instead courageously pursue what our soul wants to experience.⭐️.

As Wordsworth said, "Let nature be your teacher ".

So now

" Let Hindi Serial be your teacher "

You were? 😕
But I believe once a Bengali is always a Bengali!

Did you listen to this song by Kumar Bishwajeet?

'' Tomara ektara bajaio na...dotora bajaio na...
Ektara bajaile mone poira jay...Ekdin Bangali chhilam re...''

Very nice post. I agree totally with you that DABH as a serial has conveyed several social messages. Not throwing garbage on to the road, keeping an eye on anything suspicious in your surroundings, saying no to corruption, wearing helmet, talking about support for a female child, exposing the hollowness of claims made by Vedrani or Swamiji and in future promoting inter religious marriages and supporting a married woman in a traditional household in her pursuit of IPS dreams. The serial is definitely one of a kind and stands apart from all others. However since we have just concluded the Swamiji track, I would definitely like to point out that the track could have been made more realistic if they had brought in Sandhya's brother bhabi and her Principal and classmates to support her in her mission to expose Swamiji. Even Suraj's role was not highlighted. He mostly remained in the background. Her doing it single handedly seemed unrealistic. In the terrorism track , she was fully supported by the police force. If you want to convey a message it has to be done in such a way that the audience thinks of emulating it. When we see Salman Khan hitting 10 people in one go, we get entertained we don't get inspired. To make it inspirational it is essential to make it more real. Here I some how felt the CVs faltered. This is strictly my POV. My intention is not to hurt anybody's sensibilities.

Dear friend, you have hit the bull's eye.

The audience must identify themselves with the character.

I totally agree with your POV.

@AK uncle and senior gang:- I've one query.
I've noticed that at workplace and in material world - loving innocent people are considered as easy targets and people operating out of intelligence earn more respect. Why is it like that?.

I firmly believe Love and intelligence are both beautiful tools required for a happy life. I am confused , how to balance both?.
