I've spoken to my mother at length over the religious practices shown in this show & she explained them to me. The mazaar - visiting it isn't shirk & neither is praying there (as in dua), depending on who you are praying to and what you are praying for. Also, as many have mentioned, the drama just happens to be based on a Muslim family - this doesn't mean Islam must be at the forefront of every event that goes on. If they were a completely religious Muslim family, there would be nothing to show the drama on as none of the crimes of the past would have happened. The makers would never intentionally offend audiences in such a big way, and if something upsets you about the Islamic portrayal I would take it with a pinch of salt. Also, at the end of the day it is fiction. As many have said, Islam is perfect but Muslims are not; only Allah can judge whether our actions are right or wrong.
I hope no one takes offence at my words as I don't wish to offend anyone! I am a Muslim myself therefore would never say anything against the religion.
Edit: I hadn't read the other pages of this discussion. I think I'll back out now because I'm not well enough & in all honesty I do not have enough knowledge about Islamic teachings (something I hope to soon rectify) to make valid contributions to this discussion.
