I like your view point regarding what should Jagya have done once Gauri did not meet him.
First of all,Gauri did not know why Jagya has come to meet her. Whether it was for old time's sake,whether to get her help to get a job,whether to rekindle the old relationship,she had no idea. It could have been any reason listed above. But,she did not meet him and therefore could not know the reason.
A relationship can be revived or can be decently buried,if both of the parties are willing and ready to accept the eventuality. "You take two steps,I will take two steps and only then there can be a meeting point",that is the idea behind reconciliation or parting of ways. Gauri did nothing. After that Jagya had no other option but,to leave. But,he did not leave silently. He had the patience(after waiting for hours and then informed by the nurse Gauri's message"baithne do") and the decency to leave a message stating his reason for the visit and asking forgiveness. A lot many men would have been pissed off with such attitude of Gauri and would have walked away silently muttering"to hell with it". Jagya did not do that. It shows,he has grown up,and has learnt his lessons.
Gauri has closed all doors on Jagya. If ever, a door is to be opened in future(which I doubt very much) the onus is only on Gauri. She has to learn to take her "two steps".
