Shalluuu actually BV had much higher TRP than IPKKND. IPKKND was a show for young people. BV's competition was Diya Aur Baati Hum which ruled the TRPs for a long time in the No. 1 position. Both are family dramas, both show DIL that are very devoted to in-laws, (to the extent DILs have no physical relationship with husbands yet😆), both are set in Rajasthan. These are in No. 1. and No. 2 position right now because they cater to mainstream middle class, middle-aged and senior people. These two shows have bigger mass appeal especially in North India.

@rankta, i agree with most of what you said. Except that I want Gauri back. She was very interesting being evil. It shows a Bv who is aggressive, self centered and abnoxious who did not elicit any sympathy from most of us. We want to see her reformed also. Because she was not total ebil like Ratan Singh. She can change. Even if she changes 50 percent she is bearable.
I am a senior citizen aged 63. A few years back i would not have bothered to watch this serial.
Most of the Hindi serials are rural based. I have not seen any urban serial based on middle class people. Even if it urban it is about super rich ultra modern people.

At present BV has three tracks - Ansh (or rather Anandi's) intimacy issues, Ganga story and Basant Gahna desire to have a child.. For me Ganga story is good, not because I am a fan of the actress playing Ganga but because in this they are showing the worst result of a bal vivah, this story of Jagdish, Anandi Shiv etc. helping this victim seems to be relevant to their social messages theme. But present issues between Ansh is worst track.. Anandi married a second time, she herself asked her present husband to marry her, her husband is so good natured, she seemed happy till they reached Kaisar Bagh, suddenly she was shown to avoiding her husband seemed scared.. some girls may have intimacy issues but it is more relevant to marriage for the first time or if the husband is like Ratan or Basant. There was no need for this track, no need to even show SR. Cvs should have let the viewers assume that Ansh are like any other married couple and continue their social messages theme. By this track people will think that a girl cannot move (or will take indefinite time) if she marries a second time even if her previous husband mistreated her and present husband is a good human.
Similarly I fail to understand why this Basat-Gahna track? So far there was no talk of anybody thinking that they should have another child. If Nandu was not there or if DS was forcing them to have another child then it would be somewhat understandable. But there is no pressure whatsoover on them (nobody will take Nandu's words regarding a sibling so seriously), Basant is in the age of grandfather, Jagdish would have been a father if not for abortion of Gauri.. What CVs want to show - Basant having a child at the same time or even after Anandi's child? What will Sugna's children will be informed- they just got a new mama/mausi? I am dissapointed that even Bhairo did not tell Basant that having another child at this age is not advisabl..
PS: these are my personal views, I am not against any charecter. It is the creatives who decide what to show in the serial.
