Qazi Touqee Qazi Touqeer's Bollywood dreams are well known, but not many know that the Fame Gurukul winner had signed Bobby Khan's (Sunidhi Chauhan's estranged husband) film Piya (kept under wraps), opposite Sneha Ullal. Keeping him on board for three months, Bobby eventually gave the Fame champ a thumbs-down.
Shhh!
Says a source, "Qazi had kept Piya secret. He was very excited and keen to do this film. But Bobby doesn't want to make Piya now. He had a change in plans. He is working on something else, which won't have Qazi in it."
We got in touch with Bobby to find out more about Piya and he admits he has put the film on the backburner. "I will make that film with Sneha Ullal, but not Qazi. Piya will roll in February 2007," he begins.
Explaining why he dropped Qazi, he says, "That boy will make it one day, but he is not ready today. One needs to have a better screen presence for a film. Television and cinema are two different things. Qazi is too thin."
But Qazi has always been thin, we argue. "Yes, and I put him through gym training. I wanted him to put on some weight. Plus I wanted him to get trained in acting, dance and fights, but he took a lot of time. He was travelling for his shows. I signed him in April but he was not ready even after three full months. My financers started backing out. I had some character aristes and I couldn't keep them waiting, neither could I wait any longer. Piya was my home production and I had to take a tough decision."
Khan says that Qazi also wanted to do some other films back-to-back. "I couldn't let that happen. Since I had signed him first, I wanted to launch him."
Disco mein khisko
Bobby is now planning a film titled It's The Time To Disco. "I plan to have three heroes — Sohail Khan, Aftab Shivdasani and Dino Morea. I need three girls. It will be a comedy film."
Qazi was unavailable for comment. We contacted his manager, Harmeet Anand, who said that he was helpless.
"Send me your questions via mail. Sony will have to approve it and only then will Qazi answer your questions. I will try to get you the answers.
Else you can write that he is untraceable."
Harmeet also said Qazi is doing some other film now, which will be announced shortly.
