Today was definitely all about re-opening past wounds. WOW.

I think everyone was upset to see Anandi be shocked but I think that if we compare today's scene and yesterdays, the reason it was because of the BG music. Yesterday they did this whole shocking kind of BG music, and today they did not do that. And Anandi's expression wasn't really of shock when she asked if Ganga was a balika vadhu, it was more one of haunted look of trepidation mixed with deep sadness that she has come into contact with another woman who has suffered traumatically at the hands of her own family and tragic fate. I was disgusted the entire time...I mean I almost wanted to throw up on BOTH the SR (read: RAPE) sequences...it was not an easily digestible scene...

Speaking of reopening wounds, not only Anandi's wounds were reopened, but the entire Singh parivaar's family was reminded of their own troubled past. The last scene where we see DS fb to the moments she tortured Anandi and that look that her and Anandi share...it was powerful. You know what strikes me most interesting? That Anandi never really talked about the bad part of her past with Shiv...she has always brushed over the details saying it use to be bad, but then my in-laws were supportive. Yes it was great that Anandi had beautiful in-laws, but she had someone like DS who made it very difficult for her until Anandi won the full love and support of DS as well. Not saying her plight was as terrible as Ganga's, but they faced the horrors of dreams of education, a normal married life being vanquished before their very innocent eyes.

I don't know if CVs plan to have Shiv be curious and want Anandi to share, or if Anandi will share the details, but it might help Shiv understand her even more. Perhaps it will help Anandi even understand why she can't be physically intimate with Shiv even though she is attracted to him and loves him. We all know that the main tracks right now are Shiv-Anandi's marital relationship and J-Ganga's story and how each will affect the other shall be interesting.

I agree with you...although the episode was difficult to watch, Ganga's story will definitely help everyone retrospect on their life, their actions. I have also wondered if Shiv really knew what Anandi had to go through in the past. Maybe talking about it would help Anandi and Shiv understand better. I hope that hearing Ganga's painful story, Shiv asks Anandi about her past.

how much shiv knows about anandi is something that triggers my mind also...do you think if he had known the full details of anandi's past then he would have respected dadisa the same way...i don't think so...shiv only knows the jist of her past...if shiv comes to know how much similar situation anandi had to face then i think he will be curious to know how bad was her past was as he saw singhs when they had accepted anandi as her daughter though he being a gentleman would never ask and neither would anandi ever disclose the terrible parts of her past...it has to be someone from singhs maybe bhairon

Right?? I am very curious too...I don't think Shiv would change his behavior or respect he has for DS...he is also like Anandi, understanding and forgiving. I think he would appreciate that DS changed so much for Anandi...I agree...him being a gentleman he might not ask about that directly, but if he sees Anandi bothered, he might ask what she is thinking about, perhaps. I don't know if someone from Singh family would discuss it...I think Anandi is the most likely...especially since the CVs are working on their intimacy issues, or at least I hope it is Anandi who shares because that will make their relationship stronger and help Shiv understand Anandi even more than before.

All in all just very curious as to how the CVs will play out the effect of Ganga's entry into everyone's lives...

Thank you Missesha for the update. You gave a nice update. Today's episode is not for weak hearts.
Everybody's expressions were good. Gehna's was superb..She showed the pain of her fateful night with Basanth. DS knew about it, but didn't do anything. Actually, DS was indirectly a party to it.. She bought young Gehna for old Besanth.
If not for Bhairon(and Sumi's watchful eyes), Anandi's fate would have become worse. When Anandi came to Haveli, DS wants her to sleep in J's room.😔 Anandi was only 8 or 9. J was also young. This old lady was sooo bad that she shouted at Bhairon for not letting A sleep in J's room!! When A nd J were little bigger, DS wanted A to bear a child..Luckily Sumi caught Jagya peeping at A in washroom😔. And Bhairon was strong enough to take a stand against DS and he sent A to Bilaria.. Bhairon could take such a strong stand because of the plight of Basanth's first wife.

Thanks for the succinct WU Missesha 😊

Today's episode was transcendent. It should go down as one of the best episodes of BV to date, because it drove perfectly, boldly and clearly at BV's message, no holds barred. As much as I adore AnSh, and other people love JaGa2 and Singhs and all that, this was bigger than any of those storylines. One of those rare moment where everyone takes a step back and just stops.

The credit for this goes almost entirely to Sriti. I said before she's a tremendous actress, but today, I'm just in utter awe. To have just entered the show and to carry such a crucial episode almost completely on her shoulders, and then to knock it out of the park with that level of acting. The parts where she was almost incoherent because she was sobbing so deeply. It also looked like a lot of the takes were longer than normal BV takes. She is stunning.

I like that they were more delicate with the handling of rougher material today. The scene with the 12 year old Ganga's SR/abuse was not just hearbreaking - it actually made me numb, but thank god they didn't show violence like they did in the Sakrant episode. They didn't with older Ganga either, and I appreciated that.

I also love that they took a heartbreaking true story and did full justice to it - showed it the way it is. In a world where media is meant for escapism, BV takes reality and puts it on our screens and forces people to think about it and to reflect on their own privilege. A lot of the times they sugarcoat it, where the base is in reality and the body is in fancy, but today, there was no sugarcoating. This is the real story of countless women, and it is a huge step forward for women's equality for it to be acknowledged in a show with such a wide audience. The first step to dealing with a problem is to acknowledge it exists, and there are women with even more horrifying stories than Ganga's and plenty more who have stories with elements of hers - harassment, rape, abuse, neglect, and so on. I applaud the CV's for daring to choose different subject matter for a prime time show in the first place.

As for the characters today:
Loved AnSh as always, Anandi introducing Shiv with pride like someone said. I don't think I've actually heard her say 'mere pati' before. Also I don't think it's fair to say that this should make Anandi realize how lucky she is to have Shiv and therefore give in. Pain is pain, scars are scars, and a psychological wound does not go away easily. She shouldn't be guilted into anything. She should do it when she's ready, when she's realized how much she loves Shiv.
Loved the look on Ganga's face when DS held it. She couldn't tear her eyes away from DS and Anandi almost had to make her look away. It must have been ages since the poor girl saw an expression of love and tenderness directed at her from an older woman, and the love of a mother figure is so important in any human being's life. This episode seriously made me cry.
Gehna and Basant's exchange of glances was only a few seconds long, but it was poignant and heartbreaking.
I hadn't seen chemistry with JaGa2 until now, but when Ganga was crying and Jagdish was looking at her with such a sad expression on his face, I finally saw it.
As Yaherd said, the ending glance between DS and Anandi was very powerful.
I hope Ratan dies a painful, drawn out death. Drowning or burning would be preferable.

Essay length post again. šŸ˜›
