W/U 05/02/13 Ganga's story

Anandi asks Ganga, if she too was a Balika Vadhu. G says, she was no different to anyone. At a very small age when she didn't even know how to look after herself properly, she was expected to look after MIL, FIL, husband. She continues that she was left among monsters and she has faced tortures that one may face in a hell. All Singhs and Shekhar couple have pained expressions on their face hearing this.

J tells G that he knows about her and hence wanted to help her in Laxmiganj, but G says when the entire village could not stand upto Ratan Singh, what better could have J done? Saying this she again loses control and wants to go back to her child. This time Ds steps in and G calmly listens to her. Ds lovingly asks her to tell what happened?

Anandi steps in and tells G that she too was a BV and knows what a BV has to go through. However there are good people too and they are ready to help. G feels calmed. Anandi introduces her to Shiv as CS as well as her husband. Shiv says he will help G in getting her child back lawfully.

By this time the medicine in the drip had started affecting Ganga. Ramkishen, the ward boy was standing outside watching everything and was thinking to himself that he owes Ratan Singh a big big favour. Now he can rightfully ask for his land from RS. He leaves from there.

DS asks G to share her pains with them. G starts narrating her story. She was the only child to her parents, and one day her parents passed away in an accident. Her mama (mothers's brother) took her to his home. Her mami never liked her because they already had lot of debts and 2 daughters, so Ganga was nothing more than a burden. Mami used to ill-treat her but mama cared for her so that balanced G's life and she was happy. In fact she even used to go to school.

Then one fine day her mami told her about Ratan Singh's proposal and sweet-talked her to get married. (Flash backs). When Ganga saw RS and his family she was horrified, but the poor 12 year old was left with no choice and forced into getting married. After all they didn't have to pay any dowri. She continued that Ratan was twice the age and had already been married once. (Basant was embarrased on hearing this). Her mama did defend for her but all in vain. G was forced to become a balika vadhu at the age of 12.

Singhs very felt sorry for her. Flash backs of her wedding was shown and then on first night Ratan Singh comes home in a drunken state and that turns out to be the most horrifying night for Ganga and lot many nights after that. G still gathered courage and tried to make a home with RS, but all in vain.

Ganga's in-laws had brought her for 2 reasons: To bear a child and to act as a free maid. She was made to do all the household work, and yet listen to her MILs taunts. Her husband ill-treated her on bed. And life went on, for poor Ganga.

Hearing all this Ds also remembers and gets flashes of how she mistreated Anandi.

VoiceOver: Why is it that in one part of the world we talk about women's liberation and progression while on the other women are forced to live a life of helplessness and torture.

Pre-cap: Same as yesterday. G falls unconscious. LS and J trying to investigate. RK calls RS to inform that G has passed away.

Can't compare A and G's story, but definitely with the kind of support Anandi received from her in-laws and finally from Dadisa, gave her a new life. A's life moved for a better tomorrow, while G's life only saw a horrible future with every passing moment.

Anandi fears getting close to Shiv, but on hearing G's words Anandi may realise that she is indeed lucky to have got a second beautiful chance and instead of remaining in her fears she may step up to get close to him, and embrace this chance forever.

Ganga's story was a big eye-opener to everyone including Anandi.

i liked the dialogues from Anandi today...the way she said that she is also a BV and we think that life is hopeless but then there are good people as well in this world. it was in general also, because she had very good in-laws but i felt it was more directed to Shiv...and the way she introduced him...as her husband with pride...felt nice...

every one from Singh family and Anandi could connect with Ganga''s story because either they were in some of those situations like Gehna and Anandi or some were doing few of the things like DS (of course not to that level)...even Basant was looking guilty... and of course Jagdish...he was feeling sad and guilty for anandi and i think he was also sad when Anandi spoke of Shiv...of course not of jealousy but regret...

by the way one thing i found amusing...Shiv was like Anandijee right from day 1 and it is still AAP but aaj Ganga and TUM 😆

I think everyone was upset to see Anandi be shocked but I think that if we compare today's scene and yesterdays, the reason it was because of the BG music. Yesterday they did this whole shocking kind of BG music, and today they did not do that. And Anandi's expression wasn't really of shock when she asked if Ganga was a balika vadhu, it was more one of haunted look of trepidation mixed with deep sadness that she has come into contact with another woman who has suffered traumatically at the hands of her own family and tragic fate. I was disgusted the entire time...I mean I almost wanted to throw up on BOTH the SR (read: RAPE) sequences...it was not an easily digestible scene...

Speaking of reopening wounds, not only Anandi's wounds were reopened, but the entire Singh parivaar's family was reminded of their own troubled past. The last scene where we see DS fb to the moments she tortured Anandi and that look that her and Anandi share...it was powerful. You know what strikes me most interesting? That Anandi never really talked about the bad part of her past with Shiv...she has always brushed over the details saying it use to be bad, but then my in-laws were supportive. Yes it was great that Anandi had beautiful in-laws, but she had someone like DS who made it very difficult for her until Anandi won the full love and support of DS as well. Not saying her plight was as terrible as Ganga's, but they faced the horrors of dreams of education, a normal married life being vanquished before their very innocent eyes.

I don't know if CVs plan to have Shiv be curious and want Anandi to share, or if Anandi will share the details, but it might help Shiv understand her even more. Perhaps it will help Anandi even understand why she can't be physically intimate with Shiv even though she is attracted to him and loves him. We all know that the main tracks right now are Shiv-Anandi's marital relationship and J-Ganga's story and how each will affect the other shall be interesting.
