One question abt the veil

I just watched the song sequence (which was just breathtakingly touching and bittersweet) and noticed that Yash put that red veil over Aarti's head...Does this mean/symbolise anything? Like does the husband put the veil over his wife's head when like they get married or something? I am just wondering since I am not too familiar with the Indian culture...

Its symbolises that Yash only considers Aarti as his wife and it will forever remain the same ..by putting the veil he just gave her that assurance of a lifetime togetherness by making her feel like a newly wedded wife 😳
