Bollywood is anything but original at the moment.

I just dont understand why these Indian film makers,Writers, actors have forgotten our beautiful culture and trying to be something they are not!

About the south remakes- Bodyguard was pukeworthy

I just hope Thupakki wont be as bad

It's the downfall of Bollywood.

There's nothing wrong with imitating aesthetics and production values. I.e. imitating quality so the overall product looks sharper. That's a plus in fact. But when they imitate HW scripts, storylines, and culture they fall short big time.

I grew up on HW and BW - an equal dose of cinemas. The thing that set BW apart for me was the culture; BW films had their own charm, they marched to the beat of their own drum and that really worked. For three hours you would have solid quality entertainment.

Now they're too busy trying to live up to this international (HW) ideal, and the result is a bunch of extremely poor films.

Actually they seem to be on two extremes either - going completely the HW root which makes for really crap films. HW does HW better. Deal with it and do your own thing, because when you do your own thing you make amazing films.

Or the other extreme is they try to go back in time to the 90s, 70s, 80s, and just rip off a bunch of old films. SOS is guilty of this.

Its called wannabe-syndrome.
Its not only Indian movies, its more of the urban mentality there. I have visited India 4-5 times in the last 2-3 years and gone to many cities from north to south and east to west. The people there are OBESSED with the western way of life and they try so hard to be like westerners in every way. I am not surprised if Bollywood is the way it is, its a reflection of the society there.
In fact, I have heard some crazy things about what youngsters are doing, and it surpasses my thinking. and I am born and raised in Canada and based on my interactions with the youth there, generally speaking, I feel the kids here are more cultured and respecful. Although there some great people there and some bad people here too but I am speaking generally.
