Boom…boom sound is everywhere with Diwali, the festival of light at hand. Films buffs and Hindi film watchers also have been waiting with batted breath on the showdown between Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' and Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Jaan-E-Mann' this Diwali. This is the first time in 15 years that Shah Rukh Khan of 'Don' and Salman Khan of 'Jaan-E-Mann' are pitted against each other. And so, people are expecting blast and sparks from the clash, as the makers of the films have been trying to out do each other, but the actors of both the films are staying rather coolly. Ironically, Shah Rukh Khan has rained praises on Akshay Kumar, the other hero of 'Jaan-E-Mann'.
Shah Rukh watched 'Jaan-E-Mann' at a special screening organized by Farah Khan and was blown over by it. He was impressed with Akshay's performance so much so that he called up Akshay, who is currently in Dubai shooting for Nadiadwala's 'Welcome' and praised him to heavens for his performance. It has to be recalled that Salman had recently termed 'Don' as 'rocking' and recommended people to watch it. Shah Rukh too has done his job by praising Salman's film 'Jaan-E-Mann' and Akshay Kumar in particular.
Akshay is touched by Shah Rukh's comments because they are not best of friends and had acted together only in 'Dil To Paagal Hai', that is almost ten years ago. "It was extremely wonderful of Shah Rukh to call. We chatted for a bit and he told me how much he liked the film and the performances. It was a really warm gesture on his part. I have immense respect for him, both as a person and as an actor, and after this gesture that has increased. It is always nice to get feedback, and when it comes from your peers, it's even better. And what better than a compliment from SRK", said the actor with awe.
Sajid Nadiadwala also confirmed that Akshay had told him about Shah Rukh's compliment that he likes 'Jaan-E-Mann'. "It's the first time after many years that they have spoken to each other. After watching the film, Shah Rukh told me that 'Jaan-E-Mann' was a very beautiful film. He even said that it's the film of the year. For me, that is huge praise. What floored me was when Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) told me, 'Good that you are giving a chance to new talent and letting them perform. I like the film very much.' Both Shah Rukh and Amitji's compliments meant a lot to me", he said with excitement on his face.
But there is a saying, 'a person who tries to please everybody doesn't please anyone'. So, do the actors really mean what they say or is it just a policy to outshine the other indirectly? No one knows their actual intention. Of course, only box-office collection matters at the end of the day!
