Yes, a woman earns less than a man in the west, but at least she doesn't have to fear living alone as much as woman in India. At least if she's raped, she'll be delivered proper justice. At least she's not restricted by society's view of a woman, but her own aptitude. In no way am I here to degrade India. I'm stating the situation as it is there. It is HORRIFIC, in my POV. Maybe it appears less to you, but I'm appalled by the daily atyachar on women that prevails in the 21st century.
By the way Kalapi di, in my post I have no mention of ArVi. I'm not justifying ArVi, but the very opposite. What I'm saying is that if people are developing character and morality through dramas and other forms of media, there is a greater problem in society. Entertainment provides no means for a moral compass. If people are leaning through media, there is a dearth of gender equality in the home and societies to begin with. If women and girls are uncomfortable in their own homes, how could they possibly tread on the streets with esteem and confidence.

No, I am not trying to justify India, and yes there are countless avenues of improvement also. You might think that woman in the West get more respect, but well, really, is woman more respected in the West and isn't valued as an object of desire...actually, many do say, even women in the West can and is an sex object. The truth is all types of people live all over the world, not to mention there are other very serious problems in the west too...not sure, I can say that one society is better than the other etc. My problem is that you are bashing a country out of context and this isn't a forum for that. We can certainly take this discussion up in SAtyaveda JAyate forum or a forum discussing issues faced by the society. Here, since this isn't the point of discussion, you post unnecessarily bash a country, with no one presenting any contrary argument. I find this is unfair, because not all members are from India or even understand the issues that resulted in its current state of affairs or its foundation. Please tell me if that is a fair stand? Even if you are an Indian, bashing India, when no one is there to defend a country, only degrades a Country, unnecessarily, and I found it humiliating. If you have picked up another Country, I could have said the same…why bash a country, when the forum or the thread isn't for that or when they isn't an contrary argument forwarded and defended against.

I picked up Arvi, because the thread is on Arvi Morality and you picked up the Country of India (and not Canada) to criticize India and its horrific society. Btw, entertainment does influence the society too; it does a whole lot, as well as our continuous need to appear cool and bending to peer pressure. If it wasn't, violence depicted in videogames couldn't become so much a topic of discussion for the gun control debate going on after the horrific Connecticut incident or Hollywood be criticized for depicting raw violence in movies. Of course, media has profound effect on every aspect of life, otherwise target advertisement only be a theory of the text book. Our younger generation faces tremendous pressure absorbing continuously contrary messages through all mediums, and every medium have a social responsibility to fulfill, my POV of course.

Listen dear, in NO WAY am I bashing India or saying the U.S./Canada/whatever is better. I'm not here to encite a debate or offend anybody. I was merely responding to Poas' comment about India's cultural and societal norms with my honest opinion as an Indian about the gender crisis. Sorry if this offended you or anyone else. 😊
I have never DENIED that media influences our youth. In fact, I whole-heartedly AGREE and find it a shame that we attempt to parallel our lives or mirror our behaviour to those in the media. Agree with green. 👏 However, if we tried to conform the media to provide a positive influence, the media would cease to exsist. @Pink, however, It's an actor's, screenwriter's director's, producer's, musician's livelihood and we can't try to make them surround us with positivity and goodness when life is far more abstract and dark. We must change how we percieve the media instead of the media changing its message for us.
I liked discussing with you, but I am afraid we are veering off the main topic.

I do respect your opinion, as this is an open forum, you have very much right to express your views, but please do not take the reference of Indian culture by seeing those stupid, illogical daily soaps..Indian culture is different and it has no limit to define. Some characters of small screens can not be the yardstick of measuring it. You can blame the production house, criticize the character off course, but can not mock on Indian culture. Thanks.

The only way I will say this show is apavitra is if Purvi is pregnant with Arjun's baby. It's not the best but I don't care if she slept with Arjun the day before her wedding. They should NOT show her being pregnant by Arjun while being married to Onir. All CV needs to do is show Onir as the true birth father and all is well.
