Asad was staring at haseena bi. He was shocked. For the first time his mind was so numb that he could not even decipher his opponent's motives. To him every thing had stilled. Every word was distant. He looked down and turned around. He was oblivious to haseena's smirk or mamu and razia's glare. The only thought through his mind was that he had failed to keep his promise to nikhat. This was one thing he could not do. Yes he could swallow his pride and apologise to that firoz but he would never let anything hurt his ammi's self respect. His heart heavy he went to his car and opened the door. But he froze unable to sit inside the confined space. He closed the door with unnecessary force and walked away from his car. After a while he stopped and decided to after all take his car. He opened the door again and got in. he startd the car and drove towards the outskirts of Bhopal with only one thought in his mind and that was that he had failed nikhat.
Zoya atlast got up unable to bear the pain and closed her eyes taking in a deep breath. She turned around and searched on her bed and came up with her head phones and ipod. She put the head phones in her ears and sat down on her bed unaware of what was going on outside her room.
The door bell to asad's house rang. Dilshad walked towards the door looking at zoya's room wondering if zoya had finally fallen asleep. Dilshad opened the door and to her shock razia the women who had insulted her so badly outside the theatre was standing in front of her.
Dilshad: aap?
Razia: ab chaukne ka natak mat karo. Yehi toh chahte the tum aur tumhara beta ki hum log yahan tumhari chaukat par aye.
Dilshad scoffed.
Dilshad: main toh humesha khuda se yehi guzarish karti hoon ki galti se bhi aap dobara meri zindagi mein na aye, mere darwaze par toh door ki baat hai.
Razia: mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi hai yahan ane ka. Yeh toh tumhare bte ki wajah se mujhe ana pada hai.
Dilshad was confused.
Dilshad: asad? Asad ne kya'
Razia cut in.
Razia: tumhare asad miyan ne aaj vo kiya hai jo koi apne dushman ke saath na kare.
Dilshad: akhir aisa kiya kya hai asad ne?
Razia: usne nikhat ki sagai tod di hai.
Dilshad was shoched. She didn't know what to say.
Dilshad: mera'mera asad aisa kabhi nahi karega. Aapko zaroor koi galat'
Razia: koi galat family nahi hui hai. Tumhare bte ne ayaan se mel jul badha kar use apne jal mein phas liya. Taki haseena bi ko Rashid miyan ki sabse badi galti yani tumharre bare mein pata chale.
Dilshad closed her eyes as tears flowed down from them.
Dilshad: asad ne kaise?
Razia: ayaan ko chup chup ke milne bula na, use mehengi se mehengi bike gift karna, market mein sabke samne uske saath gana gana aur kya chahiye tumhe?
Dilshad; asad ayaan se nahi milta.
Razia: haan haan. Jab tum khud chup chup ke Rashid miyan se milti hot oh asad toh abhi bacha hai.
Dilshad: bas kijiye please.
Razia: par mein aaj tumhe tumhari galtiya ginvane nahi ayi hoon. Mein chahti ki jab tumhari aur tumhare bte ki wajah se nikhat ki shaadi tooti hai toh ab tum hi use judao.
Dilshad: vo kaise?
Razia: haseena bi ye nikah sirf ek shart par hone dengi.
Dilshad: kya?
Razia looked away in disgust.
Razia: ki jab tak nikhat ki bidai nahi ho jati tab tak tum humhare ghar mein raho.
When razia did not hear an answer, she looked up at dilshad to see the look of utter shock on her face.
Asad was driving like a madman. He had no idea where he was driving. The only reason he could make the turns and stay on the road was that he had years of experience driving around here. All he could think of right now was memories. Sad memories from his past.

toh phir thik hai. Apne bhai par bharosa rakho. Mein tumhe tumhari haq ki khushiya zaroor dilaunga aur tumhari shaadi Imran se hi hogi. Yeh mera wada hai tumse.
Ammi mein aap ko kabhi bhi aasu bahne ki wajah nahi dunga.
Mere baap ka saya mere sar se satra sal pehle hi uth gaya tha.
Ayaan!! Ayaan ko mat le jayiye! Ayaan!!
Asad hit the breaks. Everything had blurred as tears fell down from his eyes. he put his head down on the stirring wheel and gave in to his sobs.
Zoya had now decided. Side effects or no sideeffects she had to take the pain killers. She went to her phupi's room. When she reached her phupi was sitting on the bed. Zoya walked in.
Zoya: phupi'vo mujhe mere pain killers chahiye the.
Dilshad go up and went to the table, took out the tablets and handed them to zoya. Zoya was surprised that phupi did not even say anything about overdosage. But ssince her cheek was paining terribly she went down to the kitchen to take some water.
Asad returned home. He was distraught. he stopped when he saw dilshad.
Asad; ammi?
Dilshad: tumne aisa kyun kiya asad?
Asad: ammi aap?
Dilshad: asad tumhe man kiya than a maine? Toh phir tum ayaan se kyun milte rahe?
Asad: ammi vo mera bhai hai. Usey dekhe bina main ek din nahi guzar sakta.
Dilshad: aur us ghar ke log mujhe beizzat kiye bina ek din nahi guzar sakte.
Asad: ammi? Kya koi aya tha?
Dilshad: useu kya farak padta hai asad. Aaj tumhari wajah se mujhe vo kadam uthana pada jo mere liye mauth se bhi badkar hai.
Asad: ammi. Aap aisa kyun keh rahi hai?
Dilshad: kyunki aaj maine tumhare abu ke ghar jaa kar rehne ka vada kiya hai.
Asad was shocked. This was not happening to him. Infact this was not happening yto his mother.
Asad: ammi, aap'kyun?
Dilshad: kyunki vo log sahi hai. Nikhat ka nikah humhari wajah se tuta hai aur mein janti hoon ki jab rishta tutatha hai toh kya dard mehsus hota hai. Chahe phir vo nikah se pehle tut jaye ya baad mein.
Asad looked at his mother shattered. He looked away and his bmind registered zoya's room. Zoya! Of course how could he forget? Since zoya was staying at their house they could not go.
Asad: ammi zoya?
Dilshad: maine meri ek saheli se baat kar li hai. Zoya kuch dino ke liye unke ghar rahengi.
Asad; ammi aapo janti hai na zoya ke rehen sehen ke bare mein. Uss ladki mein tehzeeb naam ki cheez nahi hai. Vo unh logon ka jina mushkil kar degi. Upar se uske kapde. Aise naye mahol mein uski kariyat ki zimedari?
Dilshad: vo log nihayati sharif aur ache hai. Na hi unke ghar mein zyada kanoon hai. Sirf kuch dino ki baat hai. Aur waise bhi unko jeans pehne wali ladkiyon se koi shikayat nahi hai.
Asad: aap ke unke bare mein batane se mujhe aur bhi dar lag raha hai. Na kanoon na tehzib aur aap kehti hai ki zoya waha safe rahegi.
Dilshad: asad bas. Maine kahaa na aur koi behes nahi. Jao aur apna saman pack karo tab tak main zoya ko jaa kar batati hoon is bare mein.
Just then asad looked up and saw najima. Najima looked at him full of concern but asad just signalled her to go to her room and start packing.
Asad had just entered his room when he heard his mother scream his name from zoya's room. he rushed out and ran toward zoya's room. When he entered he saw najima and dilshad rubbing zoya's palm and calling out to her but she was laying there still. Asad hurried towards her scared as hell. He touched her forehead and asked his mother what was wrong with her.
Dilshad; pata nahi asad. Main jab andar ayi tab yeh aisi hi thi.
Asad: najima pani lao jaldi.
Najima nodded and ran out. Soon she came back with water. Dilshad was tearing up pleading zoya to wake up. Asad quickly took some water in his hand and sprinkled it on zoya's face. Zoya stirred a little. He repeated it again and this time zoya's eyelids fluttered open. She looked up till her vision focused on asad. She tried sitting up.
Zoya: aap?
Dilshad: hya allh. Shukar hai allah ka ki tum thik ho. Kya hua kya tumhe?
Zoya thought for a moment and then replied.
Zoya: vo phupi mera dard bohot bad gaya that oh maine vo pain killers le liye toh shayad over dose ho gaya hoga.
Asad: agar aap janti thi ki aap ko vo daviya bar bar nahi leni chahiye toh apne li kyun?
Zoya: kyunki vo bohot tasty hai. Aap ko kya lagta hai mr. khan? Mujhe behead dard ho raha tha isiliye maine vo le li.
Dilshad: zoya mujhe maaf kar do. Mujhe tumhe vo davaiya nahi deni chahiye thi. Mera dhyan nahi tha aur'
Zoya: its okay phupi. Koi baat nahi. Mujhe hi vo nahi leni chahiye thi. Ab mujhe bohot nindh aa rahi hai phupi. I feel so slee..py'
Zoya was so drowsy that her head was about to hit the bedpost. But asad caught her head in time and with his mother's help they put her in a comfortable positin and najima tucked her in the blanket.
All three came out of zoya's room and najima bid good night and went upstairs. Asad turned to his mother.
Asad: ammi mujhe lagta hai ki zoya ko humhe aisi halat mein kisi aur ke pas nahi bhejna chahiye. Dekha nahi. Kuch ghanto ke liye khud ka khayal nahi rakh sakti kuch dino mein na jane kya kar degi ye ladki?
Dilshad: par asad koi aur rasta nahi hai aur humhe toh nikhat ke nikah tak waha ja kar rehna hi padega.
Asad: ek aur rasta hai.
Dilshad: kya?
Asad: hum inhe bhi humhare saath Rashid miyan ke ghar le jate hai.
