KKHH:- Yes he was in love with Anjali ever since the beginning of the movie tina was just his good friend but Anjali was his real love. In the beginning he cries when Anjali leaves. He plays basketball for 8 years as if he was going to see her again, and he feels scared when his daughter leaves for summer camp because he is afraid he will lose her like he lost Anjali. I mean I think these are all subtle things in the movie that show Rahul's subconscious love for his old best friend.
