However, security concerns and logistical issues came in the way. "This is a golden opportunity for the players to see a movie in India, but security is a big issue," an official said.
The next stop was Ahmedabad and then Chennai. The Pakistanis repeated their request in both these cities and were politely told that this was not possible.
Sources said the players have not given up hope and made the same request after reaching Kolkata on Monday. "The entire team visiting a local cinema hall is completely out of question," said the official.
The Pakistanis have now requested the officials to organize a special screening of the film for the players in the team hotel. This too hasn't happened so far.
"The Pakistanis will be based in Kolkata for three days before playing the second ODI against India on Thursday. They are still hoping that a special screening can be made possible on Wednesday," the official said.
It was also revealed that of one their teammates, Shoaib Malik - who is taking part in a reality dance show - has become an object of friendly banter for the players.
He has got compliments from both Indian and Pakistani players for matching steps with his wife, Indian tennis star Sania Mirza.
