well i agree with the accent- and if we are comparing globally- yes kate winslet despite having a thick british accent had to let it go and speak american for titanic!

so yes- that was one flaw but then again, she is a pleasant surprise in today's times in bollywood where an actress can easily be projected from a particular country in every movie just to facilitate her short comings and many more such things!

Yup, she has some problem with the accent but I think that didnt matter much because she was portrayed more like an Indian woman than a Maharashtrian in the film.

Anyways I am eagerly waiting to watch Sridevi back again with another movie soon.Bollywood needs such feel good movies.

shounak i as an audience wouln't have an issue if they had kept her as an Indian woman in the narrative but the makers themselves made it more apparent that she was Maharashtrian infact they even had a marathi song .so when the makers where themselves projecting her as maharashtrian how can we say she was only an Indian .i would have bought ur point had they not made her language discerning in the narrative .
Like for kat we have to always assume she is some NRI even if she was suppose to portray a village belle so for sri too we can presume whatever be her character irrespective of language creed she would have a southie connect .creative liberty what say😆

I thought the story would unfold as she a Southie and her hubby a Marathi. Sridevi a total let down in the language department. Her Hindi too was not spontaneous never been a Sridevi fan in those days nor am I impressed now.

One needs to watch Meryl Streep in her various movies to learn how to speak with accents. That lady is a Professional. Hats off to her. The reason I bring this up is simple, at the end of the day an actor is a " PROFESSIONAL" and he/ she needs to prepare for his or her " CHARACTER". We have a Amir Khan who prepares for his..so why didn't Sridevi?

sri devi is another lazy bum when it comes to accent .meryl streep is just in another league .BW stars r poles apart from their HW counterparts when it comes to professionalism and being in character for their movies.there r plenty of A listers even now who seem the same in all their movies .i m not talking names here i m sure u must have guessed who i am talking about

But yes she still hasn't grasped the accent, she should learn from Rekha who was terrible with her accent in her earlier movies but improved it later. And, it is really hard to tell now😳

i know where u r coming from ,i love sridevi for her comic timing there are very few actress who have a good comic timing sri is one of them. she is a good performer so it becomes more important for her to make her character believable on screen .her performance was no doubt top notch but her accented Hindi dialogs just take away the sheen of watching a performer like her .it does not show good on her part .Rekha has improved much better than her

that is true koiza if it was a normal pot boiler commercial flick that can be understood but here in this movie the onus was on her .she was the protagonist .infact she was in all the scenes there was hardly any scene i remember where she wasn't in the frame .so when u know ur character is that cardinal for the narrative u need to be well prepared in all departments .but she lacks that dedication .i like kate winslet . kahan kate aur kahan sri😆

Just be thankful she didn't have a South Indian accent playing a Marathi (or Maharashtrian) lady.

Frankly speaking critics have been raving about her performance in EV bcoz she is a legend now and they don't want to give any negative remarks about the yester year legend plus the movie overshadowed her performance(Accent part especially). Movie was brilliant, the script was strong and people din't bother the accent much , but take a closer look was she convincing as a marathi women? The answer is a big no, coz forget the marathi(they din't speak a bit of marathi in the movie or maybe they did little)even the Hindi she spoke was so not convincing. Disappointed big time.
