i m again with a topic which might not be in resonance with all šŸ˜† but had to make make it since its bugging me for some time i need to know others opinion on it .I saw English Vinglish again on Zee cinema yesterday .i was again floored by Sri devi's amazing performance .she just nailed shashi .her little little nuances to the character which only a veteran like her can understand just scaled the performance to new heights .everything seemed perfect .i loved her chemistry with her family and her classmates and especially the French GUY (loved the bg score for them ).Gauri shinde deserves all the best debut director award (if there is any such criteria) .
i dont think we can imagine anyone except sridevi in this role . although she gave one of her The best performance in this movie but there is something that held me back as an audience to rate her 10/10 for her performance .and the Thing was her Accent .
she was playing a Mahrashtrian character but her accent was somewhere holding me back to fully enjoy her performance .In most pre interval scenes all the most hindi dialogs were having accent .Shashi was someone who should be fluent in hindi and a weak hold on english but it was in her hindi dialogs that accent was more prominent .i mean the scene with the french guy after her daughter blast her on phone where she places an order her english was perfect but in some of the scenes where she has to speak Hindi her usual sridevi accent did spoil it for me

She actually reminded me of her Nagina days where her hindi dialogs had such thick accents

i m not undermining her superb performance here but i feel she has been in the industry for so long she needs to get rid of her accent .

how many felt the same .

She dubbed for herself for the first time in Chandni (After Sadma).

Didn't see EV yet, Zee Cinema has a horrible sense of timing. 😔

Thanks to everybody's comments in the forum, I finally watched EV yesterday followed by Vicky Donor. EV was directed by a debut director? Wow I'm impressed!

Everything seemed so sensible and real. For example Shashi's daughter talks back at her and looks down upon her for this whole English thing and yet the daughter's character was not portrayed as somebody whom we would hate. That's how some normal teens behave. She learns her lesson in the end and so does her father. Women are much more superior than a foreign language :)

I would love to watch this director unleashing more movies like this. I never followed Sri Devi's work except for Mr. India and few scenes of Nagina (thanks to my aunt) but she blew me away. She was amazing to watch

Ps: I love that French guy. He looked familiar though
