yeah the entry to the Oscar def helped with collections. The Barfi team was so lucky that the news came out while the film was running at the boxoffice.

however, the film was doing well before the Oscar news.. but the news jumped the collection to a whole new level.

This is what happens when the production houses and powerful lobbies dictate the selections...

Barfi was a great film. No doubt abt it. I loved it. But was it an Oscar worthy entry? No...

A movie like PST would have been a better choice. It was an original movie and it had an Indian essence abt it... Added to that Irfan is a known face in the west.

A year when Bollywood had some best films, a ground breaking year with movies like PST, GOW etc... its a pity that an inspired film like Barfi is chosen to represent India at the Oscars.

But BI Ji... that's no excuse for sending a movie which was inspired ( no matter how much length of the movie was inspired from) and especially when there were many movies which were much more deserving than Barfi... Also isn't that the case always( like when some one is successful everyone tries to bring him/her down) but the board should be impartial and send the one that truly deserves to be sent especially when we had gems like PST, GOW to name a few..

And lastly I loved Barfi as mother of child with Autism I wish my child would get some one like Barfi in his life... Every Jhilmill should get her/his Barfi😃

I am a sucker for these movies which has anything related to Autism's emotional angle attached to it😃

It was definitely an amazingly beautiful film.I was "Aww"ing throughout & trust me,I am not an "Aww" person.But it definitely did not deserve an Oscar.My father could throughout the movie predict Barfi's antics,having seen a lot of Charlie Chaplin movies.It was too plagiarised.It did not deserve an OSCAR & shouldn't have been sent in the first place.

But loved Barfi.Ranbir & Priyanka were amazing.

Derrr! This was so expected...they should have sent in Shanghai or Kahani instead, hell even English VInglish had better chances. Barfi was WAY too "inspired" plus it's more in the rom-com genres and rom-coms hardly ever get nominated in Best Picture. I guess better luck next time to Bollywood--let's hope the committee who decides this can actually pick something that can compete next year.

I don't get why ppl are happy & celebrating this movie didnt make the cut Put aside this film didnt deserve to be the official entry but at the end of it it's a hindi film that can bring recognition to India why hate on ur own country film
