After watching yesterday's episode I am dismayed . I have all along vehemently opposed this secret studying track and continue to do so. I know change takes time and it is a herculean task to change a traditional mindset like that of Bhabo. There were opportunities in the past to pressurise her into accepting ,which were clearly missed by the CVs. The standard argument given by most was that to be in the intensely competitive telly world a lot of drama is required to sustain audience interest. This secret studying will ensure aangan dramas for the future. That is why neither Suraj blackmailed his mother nor Sandhya opened her mouth when the time was ripe to tell Bhabo. Isn't it a bit hypocritical to claim you are introducing Nayi soch. Maybe I understood it wrongly. It is Nayi Soch not for the older generation ,but for the younger generation to cheat and lie behind your elder's back to get around them. I have been quoting Gita in many of my posts. Our religious texts teach us to fight and win. Lord Krishna did not ask Arjun to leave the battlefield and kill his enemies in the night. Mahabharat was an open confrontation where treacherous means were used like the killing of Karna or Drona ,here also emotional blackmail of Bhabo instead of Sandhya could have done the trick.
Bhabo has many flaws in her character. She is egoistic and ensures that her writ runs large in the Parivar. She is a product of a traditional society and behaves no differently than others in her milieu. Except for one or two revolutions in history all revolutions and changes have met with severe resistance. Suraj does not want to hurt his mother , so decides not to confront her. The sense of hurt and betrayal that too from the person she loves the most in the world is going to be far greater for Bhabo than any open confrontation Suraj has with his mother on the issue. Yes, you will argue did she care for Suraj when she called him a mere halwai and burnt the admission form. If Suraj does the same how is he different from her.
Coming to the highly unrealistic portrayal part
1. Sandhya a young girl going all alone in the night is very unrealistic. India is unsafe for girls especially the North. .
2. Her argument that she has future IPS aspirations is again flawed. You are given vigorous training for a year in Hyderabad for the same before you can face the unruly elements.
3. As Suraj said they always have huge convoys supporting them for operations. They don't do it alone.
4. Sneaking out every night with out family members noticing is again unrealistic.
5. Even if that happens in a small neighbourhood like Hanuman galli. others will notice you leaving and people will get back to Bhabo.
6.Studying without anyone knowing in a house where there is very little privacy and anybody can walk into your room is the height of unrealistic portrayal.
7. If the taxi driver friend story is true than also it is unrealistic because If a man and a woman are seen travelling in the middle of the night alone than the natural conclusion in a conservative society will be of an affair between the two. It is Pushkar we are talking about.
8. The youngsters may argue that girls do go for call center jobs in the night. Yes they do but mostly in bigger cities and with the approval of their parents not on the sly.
I am all for women's rights and liberation but when a serial is made with a certain type of society in the background which through the serial they seek to change the portrayal of the society has to be realistic. That I am sorry to say in this track has been disappointing.
