Bobby Darling has split with one-time steady boyfriend Mark. They were in a serious relationship, until they split eight months ago.
Bobby Darling with Mark
It was Mark whose love inspired Bobby to seriously contemplate a sex change operation.
Reluctant to speak at first when hitList cornered him about the break-up, Bobby said, "Dreams rarely get fulfilled. Mark was a dream. I never wanted to talk about it."
It began with physical attraction
Bobby met Mark on a beach in Goa, where he was shooting for the Salman Khan starrer Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha in April last year.
"Mark was wearing shorts and I was immediately attracted to him. I hate people who say that their relationships blossomed from friendship into love. Any relationship relating to love has to have physical attraction as its base."
They lived together in Bobby's flat
Mark called on Bobby at the hotel where he was staying with the unit. The duo went for a couple of drinks and Bobby opened up to Mark and told him everything about his turbulent teens, his discord with his parents and his struggle in the entertainment industry.
24 hours later, they made love. "I have had one-night stands with even some Bollywood heroes but never such a connection," reveals Bobby, "Mark was special. After I finished my shooting, he came with me to Mumbai and stayed in my Oshiwara flat for 10-12 days.
After that, he went back to Goa to spend time with his relatives. I kept visiting him at the slightest opportunity. I had thought of becoming a woman before I met Mark, but after meeting him, I firmly made up my mind in that direction."
Distance made things worse
Bobby says that the relationship took a drastic turn when Mark went back to Sweden.
"His phone calls and messages started decreasing. I suspected that he had found someone else." Bobby's fears came true when Mark visited India in December last year.
"He was very formal even when I visited him in his room at the Holiday Inn. I asked him point blank if he was interested any further, and he broke my heart by saying that he had a girl in his life. And so we parted, though it wasn't on amicable terms."
Life goes on
Bobby says that it will not be easy for him to forget Mark but life will go on. He still maintains his urge to physically transform into a woman.
"I will go for my silicone implants in mid-2006 to Bangkok and thereafter for a sex-change. I am looking out for a serious relationship again. I want a normal heterosexual man like Mark; someone matured in his mid-30s, who will accept me as a woman and bind with me in a legal relationship."
