Chapter 27
Geet ran down the stairs running from Maan. He was being naughty as they were spending time after the confession. He caught up to her and grabbed her wrist while others were around them. He fiddled with it behind her dress, stopping her from moving or running away.
"Maan, behave. Everyone's here." She told him. He didn't budge. He kept his hold on her hand.
"You shouldn't have run." He said.
"I'm sorry." She replied, not really meaning it, only worried about someone spotting them.
"Nah-uh. Not so easily Ms. Geet Handa."
She knew that look very well. "Fine. What do I have to do?" she asked.
"Dance." He replied and pulled her to the middle of the dance floor. The song started and so did their dancing.
Imagine Kurbaan Hua here (minus the white sari since she's wearing a dress? =P
The rest of the party was a blur. Everyone was in their own world. Laughing, enjoying, eating and partying away. Soon, the guests left and it was just their group of friends. Maan pulled Yash aside saying he had to talk to him about business.
Instead he said, "Yash. I know I'm no one to tell you this but at least talk to Annie? She really needs a support. She needs answers to all her questions and only you can give it to her. Please… don't ignore her like that. I've seen you caring for her. Then why are you ignoring her?"
Giving him a pat, Maan left Yash alone to his thinking. He went and joined the rest of them. Geet was purposefully avoiding looking right at him, when she knew his eyes were on her all along. Arjun got up to drop Annie home when Yash said, "If you don't mind… Can I?"
Arjun didn't need to think twice. He nodded and walked Annie out till the door. He wished Maan and Geet good night before retiring for his room. Everyone else left as well. Geet got up to climb up the stairs. Maan went in the kitchen to get a glass of water before following her to their room.

In the car, Yash drove silently as Annie sat in the passenger seat. Yash said, breaking the silence, "I'm sorry… I know what I did was wrong. I shouldn't have ignored you. It's been a lot of years… I can't make up for them but I promise… I'll try to. Whenever you need me, you'll find me next to you."
"Can I ask you something?" she asked. He nodded. She continued, "Why was I left in the orphanage?"
Yash paused for a second before replying. "I don't know. I was young as well. The only person who knows is our mother and our sister."
"You knew you had a family. Why didn't you try finding any of us?"
"Because I had promised her. Rakhi… That's our sister's name. She and mom asked me to not follow them. They told me something really bad would happen and with time, I just learnt to grow up alone. I'm just happy thinking that somewhere… both of them will be safe. I know they are…"
"You talk as if you know where she is."
Yash slammed the breaks of the car. She was taken aback. "Your house is here." He said, luckily that co-incidentally, her house had come by the time she asked that question.
She got out and bent down to look at him through the mirror. "You didn't answer my question." Yash looked away. "It's okay. I'll find her the way I've found you too. Thanks bhai… I'm glad to have you."
"Good night." He replied with a smile and walked her go in the door. He then said out loud. "She's been with you all these time. You're looking too hard. Just look closer…" He wished he could have said these things to her. But unfortunately, that one promise kept him away from her and everyone else.

Maan entered the dark room. He saw Geet standing in front of the mirror, removing her necklace. Hearing him enter, she looked up in the mirror to see his reflection. She stopped for a brief second before going back to unhooking her necklace, which was getting hard being conscious of Maan's constant gaze on her.

She didn't know what would happen next now that they had confessed their love to each other. Maan walked up to her till he was right behind her. She stopped fiddling with the necklace seeing that he was offering her help. She moved her hair out of the way and revealed her bare back.

Slowly he lifted his hands to her neck where her hands were. When they touched hers, she slowly let go of the necklace and her hands dropped to her sides. She felt his cold skin brushing against her as he untied it.

She turned to face him as he held the necklace in his hands. She took it from him slowly and turned back around to lay it on the dresser. As she forwarded her hands to remove her earrings, so did his. Her hands gradually pulled back as one hand of his squeezed her shoulder while the other touched her ear. She closed her eyes grasping in the anticipation.

One over… one more to go. She tipped her head in the same way as he carefully removed her other earring. Now, she held both the earrings in her hand as both of his hands were on her shoulder, slowly traveling down her arms as he breathed in her scent nuzzling his face in her hair and slowly moving his lips down to her nape.

Feeling shy and also afraid something might happen if she gave in to her temptation, she ran away from there and inside the bathroom. Shutting the door, she leaned her back on the door, taking in heavy breaths. Her chest heaved up and down.

Outside, Maan's hand hung in air as he had tried to get a hold of her but she had run off too fast. A smile then spread on his lips as he savored the moment. He loosened up his tie and removed it along with his upper coat and vest. Geet took her time in changing as she hoped Maan to be fast asleep by the time she got out. It was almost next to impossible knowing that Maan would wait for her. Still, one could hope.

Finally, she stepped out of the bathroom and sure enough, there he was. He was walking around doing something on his phone. He looked up hearing the lock of the door twist. She stood there playing with her fingers, twisting and turning them out of nervousness. He walked closer to her and she closed her eyes in fear again. He smiled seeing her expression and simply pulled out the hair tier from her hair. Her hair pulled open and flew freely with the wind.

She opened her eyes, not sensing this coming. He winked at her and moved past her to enter the bathroom to change. It didn't take him that long to change. He was eager to come out before she went to sleep. He wanted to talk to her. He wanted to spend a lot of time with her. His heart wanted to even when they would always be together. He wanted more.

Coming out, he saw her laying on the bed, eyes closed and the blanket not around her. He knew she was pretending to be asleep for she never really fell asleep without cuddling to her blanket. He climbed up in bed and bent over her to pat her hair. Geet in fact was pretending to be sleeping. She tried her best to not open her eyes.

Maan gave her a soft kiss on her forehead, not wanting to force her into any intimacy she wasn't ready for. Just for his wishes, he didn't want to compromise. He covered her in blanket and was about to climb back out and sleep on the couch, thinking it would make Geet feel comfortable. Just then, she opened her eyes, sensing what he was doing and stopped him by holding his hand.

He stopped and sat back down, questioning her action with his eyes. Even she blinked, letting him know she was okay with him sleeping there. If he could think about her and make himself uncomfortable on the couch, she could adjust a little to. She made him believe she was fine with it and it was him humble thought that mattered to her.

Finally, he had to give in and he lay down next to her, still keeping a little distance between them. Geet;s next move surprised him. Just like they would before, she cuddled up next to him and made his arm her pillow. He could feel her lips curve into a smile as she cuddled and softly let herself into her dream land. After a moment of dawning, he got comfortable, gave her another kiss on her hair by her forehead and closed his eyes as well.

Next morning, Geet woke up to find Maan's hand around her waist and her head laying on her other land. Her back faced him. With a smile, she slowly lifted her head and tried to release the tight grasp he had around her waist. He whined when she had released herself from him and grabbed her again like he was pulling his teddy back to him.

She giggled as his hand tickled her in the process. She ran her hand through his hair as she turned to face him in his hold. She gazed upon his handsomely cute face as he slept. Her hand fell on his cheek as she pulled her head up to give him a kiss on his head. She paused to look at him deep in sleep and after a thoughtful face, she kissed his cheek as well.
Then, she slowly unwrapped herself from his hold and once again tried to leave. Unfortunately, her hair got caught in his chain; the same chain she had gifted him. He spoke, making her heart jump as she hadn't expected him to be awake. "Looks like someone doesn't want you to get up."
He then opened his eyes. She blushed, realizing that he had been awake all along and knew about her kisses. She looked away from his face, biting her lips. Grinning, Maan tried to look at his neck to untie her hair but it was out of his visual range. He was finding it hard to look down to close.
Accidently, he pulled her hair a little. "Ouch." She said. He quickly apologized. Seeing his hardship, she moved in a little closer and forwarded her hand her to help him. His hands stayed there but were mesmerized to move seeing how close she was to him.
Geet, oblivious to this, had her full focus on untying her hair as they kept on pulling. Moments later, she finally succeeded and sat up in bed. It was then she realized how closely Maan had been watching every expression of her in a trance. She pulled her hair behind her ear.
Seeing that it was still very early, she said, "Go back to sleep." And quickly got out of bed to freshen up. Maan lay there knowing sleep wouldn't come back to him. Thus, he checked his phone and decided to get up as well. He was surprised to see a message for him from a private number. He opened it to read.
"Oh my to be son in law! Doesn't life just feel wonderful when you get your love? Sorry to apply some brakes, but better watch out. Devil returns. "
Reading this, Maan lost his senses, understanding every word of the message. Surya was back. And if he was back, it wasn't safe for Geet. He didn't want to tell her to scare her and take her happiness away. But he wondered. What other choice do I have? Why was life like this? With every smile and happiness followed a long list of sadness. His face fell perplexed as he worried about what to do next.
