| | Big B goes futuristic
Amitabh Bachchan goes into the virtual world in Reid & Taylor's latest TV commercial. Produced by Classics Films and directed by Minto Singh, the ad shows Bachchan against the backdrop of a futuristic world.
Like a maestro, he waves his hands enigmatically to create his own designs mid-air, which then merge to form the suave and rich designs of the new line of the brand's suits. So look out for it. Because no matter what you do, there's no escaping this man on the small screen! | | Boys just wanna have fun! | | | | | | Kangana Ranaut | | Shiney Ahuja, Mohit Suri and Shaad Randhawa | | An aggressive marketing policy is the mantra of the Bhatts for their forthcoming movie Woh Lamhe. At a recent media gathering, however, the boys including director Mohit Suri, actors Shiney Ahuja, Purab Kohli and Shaad Randhawa were in no mood to yap about the film.
They simply ganged up and decided to crack up over some silly jokes. Even Kangana Ranaut was missing from the scene, till she decided to make a fashionable late entry. | Main bhi Don!
Everyone's talking about Shah Rukh Khan playing Don in Farhan Akthar's latest film. But there is one more actor who is also playing an underworld criminal.
Rajat Bedi plays a psychotic thug in Suresh Krisshna's film Rocky — The Rebel (starring Zayed Khan), which releases this Friday. Bedi's character is funky and stylish and there are some raw fight sequences with Zayed in the climax scenes.
For those of you who don't remember, Bedi was the first titleholder of the Gladrags Manhunt International in 1994. He started his film career with a thriller titled 2001: Do Hazaar Ek opposite Tabu in 1998 and played the villain in Koi Mil Gaya.
Celebrating style
Will it be the suave Abhishek Bachchan, the sprightly Preity Zinta, the latest sensation Himesh Reshammiya or the sizzling host Mandira Bedi?
The theme for the LYCRA MTV Style Awards 2006 is Celebrating Style. In keeping with the theme, this year's function will feature an explosion of colour with the year's chosen designers, Neeta Lulla, Ritu Kumar, JJ Valaya, and Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna presenting their lines.
The event will be held In Mumbai on October 14 at the MMRDA Grounds. Arjun Rampal, Ashok Salian, Manish Malhotra, Malaika Arora-Khan, Mehr Jessia, AD Singh, Nafisa Ali, Prahlad Kakkar, Queenie Dhody, Nandita Mahtani and Deepika Govind will finalise the nominees.
Oh brother!
We know Aamir Ali has a roving eye for good-looking women. So we were pleasantly surprised to find that he has brotherly affections towards the fairer sex as well. Apparently, Aamir treats actress Bhumika Chawla like his younger sister.
"In fact, we have done some commercials together as well where she plays my sister. She's a really cute person and I admire her a lot," he tells us.
So does he have any sisters in the TV industry as well? "No! I don't want to play brother to anyone from the small screen."
Do we hear TV actresses scurrying for cover? | | Bouquets and brickbats | It looks like VJ-turned-actress Sophie Chaudhary has gotten a taste of Gandhigiri too.
Because when we dissed her for being overly shutter friendly recently, she sent us a lovely posy of yellow roses, with a note that read, 'Badnaam na honge, toh kya naam na hoga…?'
Yep. We were left wondering too. For when we write nice things about celebs, we barely get an acknowledgement.
But when we throw brickbats, we get bouquets! So it seems Sophie's new funda is to kill us by flowers. Bring on the bouquets, honey!
(PS: Can we get the number for the florist?)
What's in a name?
| | | Madhur Bhandarkar with his wife | Madhur Bhandarkar finally became a father on Monday, and needless to say, he's thrilled to bits.
Madhur says the baby's arrival caught him unawares as his wife was due to give birth in the first week of October.
The doting father now has to figure out a name for his baby girl.
So even as he goes through name books for babies, we suggest staying as far away as possible from the letter 'P'! You know, bad luck and everything. | |
