Paulomi you've picked up a right topic,which needs a closer discussion.And when we come to discuss the characters in HD,one thing is clear that,there is no stability in them;the characters lack consistency.When characters are created for a drama,or a novel there is a balance maintained between reality and fiction;the traits in the character don't change with the change in the atmosphere of the story.But as we see it in HD,the characters' traits change with the change in the atmosphere of the story;there is an imbalance between the internal and external changes.And this imbalance between reality and fiction is seen in the character Indu,who is portrayed as an eight year old,but lacks in innocence and simplicity,which is seen in a real-life child of eight years of age.The Indu character has more shades of evilness and maturity,which contradicts the features of a young child;and which also contradicts the emotions displayed by a child of this age.

And coming to the part about Indu's up- bringing,I believe Shweta is much at fault than Rishi,because she is the mother;and in the good and stable up-bringing of a child a mother's role is much more important than a father.While the father takes care of the family by providing for them,and financially supporting them for fulfilling every small needs of the child;the mother is responsible for molding the child emotionally and ethically,giving the roots of tradition and culture;drawing a fine line between independence and limitation to one's freedom.And in this respect both Rishi and Shweta has failed as good and responsible parents.While a father is usually a role-model for the child,the CVs have poorly drawn the father-image in the character Rishi.But in showing Rishi's emotional distance from Indu,is justified to a certain extent,because being a man,who has lost his beloved wife,and who has committed himself to a relation,which was needed in the best interest of his infant baby,is but natural.But the display of Rishi's emotion is not drawn in correct proportion,because sometimes he's shown to be an ignorant father,who doesn't even stop Shweta from manipulating his daughter,from encouraging Indu in her misbehavior towards elders;and at times Rishi is shown to be a caring father,who is protective towards his child.This is absolute imbalance of character traits:because either Rishi should be shown as a lovable and caring father,who inspite of his agony,should be devoted to his daughter and try to give her a good upbringing;he should be honest to his child and should not give Shweta a upper hand over Indu's life,as Shweta have deliberately kept Indira and her connection to Rishi and Indu,in the dark;Or ,Rishi should be shown as an ignorant father,who has totally distanced himself from his daughter,and has nothing to do with Indu's life.

And finally coming to the characterization of Shweta,I think she is drawn as a complex character,who takes advantage of situations according to her profit.Firstly,she has been shown as a good friend to Rishi,whom she has always loved;but when given an opportunity,Shweta gave up easily to evilness and deceived her friend Rishi about Indira's pregnancy.And now,taking the advantage of the situation,i.e.,being a mother to Indu,Shweta is not only manipulating her emotion,but also brainwashing the little girl against her father,which is both ethically and morally wrong.And in doing such an act Shweta has proved that just by giving birth to Rishi and Indira's child,she did not become a mother;because a real mother always gives first priority to the welfare and happiness of her child;because a good mother is never selfish.A mother is one,who stands in the highest pedestal of every other relationship;one,whose love doesn't need to be proved time-n-again.And coming to the character Indira,its too early to judge her as a mother,because she has not yet been given the right over her daughter.So I think only time will say if Indira is a good and responsible parent;if she is a mother,or not.

But whatever the resolution be for the current situation in story,the writer and the CVs of HD cannot undo the disaster they've done with the child character,who is mostly disliked by most of the audience for her imbalanced characterization.And whats sad is that,in this poor characterization of Indu,the child actor is being misused;her talent has been misused,for which there is no rectification.And I believe the only way to make the character Indu likeable and acceptable to us, is to fill this character with the real characteristics of a child:with innocence and simplicity,or end the character with the characters Shweta and Malik Khan.
